problems starting after transmission swap

so i recently took on the project of swaping a manual transmission into a 97 eclipse rs. evertything is in and now it wont start... when i do not have my foot on the clutch pedal it will turn over but will not start up, after awhile its like the starter kicks out because of the whine. it doesnt really fire either. when i push the clutch pedal in it wont do anything which is why i know the wires are probably messed up, not sure what i did wrong though. if anyone can help i would REALLY appreciate it...

sounds like the clutch pedal wire associated with the ingition system is not wired correctly. some have bypassed or eliminated this. if you do, be sure to always check to be sure your are in neutral each time you start the car.

also curious about this... post swap & upon start up, did the car throw a check engine light (CEL)? if so, go you have a data logger? if yes, what was the code? did you reset the ecu and tried to start it again?

yes it did have a CEL it was for the egr valve though. i have not tried to reset it and i followed the directions i was giving but does anyone have a clear explanation on how to wire it up?

well if it crank check if it got spark if it got spark check if it got fuel. there should be not reason it wont start. see if the ignition is pluged in and make sure you have the wire in the right order. the matter of the clutch has nothing to do with the start just get rid of the clutch sensor. I once had probs with my last dsm starting when my coil clip was not plugged in all the way. so check that if you have fuel and spark tell me and will see what else you can check.
