I'm having major problems in the rain and have tried many things to try to fix it but maybe some of you have some help I'm lost now. when it rains and after driving in it for a little bit the car seems like it drops off at least one cylinder maybe 2 and runs like crap and smokes lots out the tail pipe and sometimes dies completely and cannot restart sometimes until it dryers up some. but i have replaced the first o2 senor and wires and plugs. the cap looks clean and now wet also with no carbon tracks. i have checked some of the wire connectors and made sure there is no water on them and then also put dielectric grease on them. it has a aem cold air with k&n filter but i cannot believe that it is sucking that much water up the pipe to make that much difference but let me know what you all think. and i will check back on here fairly often to give any other info if needed.

PS> it seems like if I'm running down the interstate with cruse on it will be just fine threw rain as long as its not to heavy. also holding a consistant speed helps but when you push the petal it gets pissed. please help

have you checked your Mass air flow sensor? mine ran like crap whe it rained because my baro. pressure sensor was going bad (it is located and part of the MAS), it didnt turn my check engine light on until probably a month or 2 after it started acting up.

:talon: Dom

thanks for the input but it is not the mass becaue i have replaced that sence it has been doing this by the way it is a eagle talon 95' with the 420a. just a work car and miles car. but i need to but my spyder away for winter and it is snowing today and very shitty.

did you have this trouble before the CAI? I would try putting the stock air box back on just to see if that makes a differnce.

ya ill give that a try i will run to the junk yard this week or see if a friend as one and i will try that. is there anything else i can try.

okay you have replaced plugs and wires but have you checked the coil for signs of cracking and or damage also check the igniton capacitor box located under the coil it is a small rectangular box with a single plug going to it :laser:

i had a moisture problem with my 95 N/T after it would rain. it was the ECU and it was shorting out...making my car jerk..like it was going to die..and then it would die and not start. if its not an air issue..i would lean more towards electronic because the mention of water can give that away pretty easily. good luck man. :dsm: :talon: :laser:

is it really possable that my intake is sucking just enough water that it makes it run pore the filter sits down by the tire and cold throw water onto the filter but it shouldn't throw that much on it because the filter is tipped away from the tire. just a ?
thanks for you help so far but i have looked threw most of this stuff. :thumb:

ps> i have hooked up a my tunerstin logger to it but not whall it was doing it but i never found any cel at the time i checked it but it could possable go off when it starts to run good.

seems like you are definitely sucking in water on you cai
try putting in the stock intake or short ram
see if it akes difference :dsm:

i find that hard to believe that that is the problem because it drops a cylinder or 2 and water would just reduce power and it would just be a mist the has to get up the intake pipe into the intake mani. then mixed with fuel and combusted, but i don't know that was next on my list. i was actually going to do that last night well i had the car in the garage heated and i totally blew that off. thanks for the reminder but you may have a good idea. but why do none of the other people that have basically the same setup and there cars don't do this.

My CF hood has a hood scoop which is right above my turbo. When it rains all sorts of water gets into that vent and soaks my air filter. I've never had any problems with water getting in, so I highly doubt that the air filter is the problem. Just my .2

Ya i really didnt think it was to much rain into the filter either but im still lost does anyone else have anything because i have tryed all this and it still dont run right in the rain.

if water is getting into your cai i would try a cai bypass valve. i was having a lil trouble until i put one in and fixed it right up.

I used to have a '92 Integra GS, and I put a CAI on it which dumped the filter out right in front of the tire. It was miserable in the rain. To the point where I could just go to the carwash and the water from the carwash would cause my car to run like hell, and die on some occasions.
