Loud thump when accelerating in the rain

This only happens when driving in heavy rain. When I came to a stop, shift to first gear, I hear/feel a loud thump sound in the driver side. But when the road is dry, I dont hear a thump. This is the exact same thump that I hear when I am pulling out of a parking stop with my steering wheel fully turned to the right. I'm thinking strut mount. I checked the ball joint and its still ok. No play on the the wheel when moved left or right. Could it be the mounts too?

Loose suspension, worn engine/tranny mounts, or possibly bad CV joint.
