I'm installing a Apex N1 cat back right now and we can't get the sensor out of the stock exhaust. Does it screw off or do you just pull it out?

Thanks guys. That sum of a bi*** is really in there though. Any tips?

lube.. also it helps to get a o2 sensor socket its specifiacally made for o2 sensors, then you can use a 1/2 in breaker bar on there thats what i do to get mine out

that or use a open ended wrench and a hammer

Sorry but I have another question and didnt want to start a new thread but how the crap do you get the stock muffler section out? The flange part is too big for the space we got? And does the N1 go on under the axle because if we have problems getting the tiny stock exhaust out I don't see how we are getting the N1's much larger piping in.

The only way I could get mine was to jack the car as high as I could get it (use jackstands) almost 3 foot and removed the drivers side rear tire and angle it in from that side. I scrapped my undercoating a little but it goes in. A second person and a block of wood and hammer help alot also. But if your alone you can do it just rest it on your leg while you "tap" it over the axle.

^ Lol good point. I don't like the way the stock exhaust system was designed. It's horrible trying to get the rear section out...I had to do exactly what someone said above, remove the drivers rear wheel and jack the car up as high as I could. I think I also removed the rear sway bar for just a bit more clearance. It would be much easier if you had access to a lift since height is what limits you from removing it.

Also about the o2 sensor, I ended up just cutting it and soldering it back together. Although I was just lazy to pick up an o2 socket. It's hard to get leverage under the middle of the car unless you have the car lifted and level.

The N1 Exhaust goes under the rear axle, so you won't have to squeeze that big piping up there. Getting the muffler out is somewhat of a chore though. For mine, I jacked the car up and put it on jackstands like normal, then I put 2 cinderblocks down with some plywood on them under the middle of the car, and jacked up the middle as high as it would go....its really high. It was dangerous, and I was worried about the car falling off but it was the easiest way to get the muffler out. It just takes a little working, thats all. But rotating it and pointing straight towards the ground was what did it for me. Best of luck

I just used my Air SpeedSaw(sawzall) and cut the factory exhaust out in sections.

As for the Rear O2, forget it.. its likely on its last legs already, just dump the $60-80 and get a new one. Or if your sneaky get/make an O2-eliminator.

If you have no cat converter just cut it and run o2 simulator...

I would cut and resolder if you want that one.. Put the section of exhaust in a vice and use a peice of pipe as a breaker on a 7/8" 6 pt wrench.

Thanks for all the info but I was able to get the rear section out and the o2 sensor off by using leg force on an o2 socket. Pics below.

I ran the N1 under the rear axle and not in between the body and axle and now it sounds like the pipe is hitting the rear axle. Did anyone who ran it uner have the same problem and how did you fix that? I think I might just take it off and go over the axle. I'm getting a downpipe and testpipe so I'll be under there soon anyways.

Going above the axle is more of a hassle and it would probably rattle even more. Have you checked where the piping is near the rear crossmember?

Yeah and its pretty close. I'm just trying to figure out a way to get it farther like maybe taking it off one of the hangers nearest to the axle. Would that work?
