I guess it's worn out or something,.. when I try to unlock the door, I have to play with the stupid lock to get it to open,.. is it easy to replace/ and where can I get an replacement? locksmith is my guess..

almost emberassing when it doesn't open and I have to unlock the passenger side door to get in..

Mine not only does that , I cant even lock the doors from outside , If I want to unlock the door , I have to go from the passenger side and fidle with the the stupid thing , I cant open the rear hatch etheir , the hatch struts dont work too, also my idle surges or fluctuates or whatever , from 1000 to 1500 and whenever the turbo gets used for a lauch , you can smell oil like crazy ...... gotta love dsm's

i was having problems with my locking too, when i hit the unlock button, they would unlock for a second, then lock again, it was because the passenger lock was jammed and it caused both of them to stay locked, so i just took the panel off, sprayed some wd40 on all the moving components...and it was fine, havent had a problem since, not saying it will help you out, but its worth a shot. :thumb:

doesnt sound like a bad idea but mine have been progressivly gettting worse...well at least the passenger side...i think it twitches sometimes but not all the time i dunno if its getttin power anymore...i might try taking out the door panel when it gets warmer

I had a similar problem with my locks. Worked most of the time, but had a very nasty habit of sticking and running down my battery (esp. in winter). I just removed the power lock fuse and never had problems again (of course, never had power locks again either).

really cool feature i found out the other day while messing with my driver side door lock while the car was running...if you have the door open...you cannot lock the door manually...or with the power door lock button...pretty cool that u cant lock ur door while your car is running....still cant figure out my passenger side broke asss lock yet..when its warmer im takin my door panel off

I had that problem on my drivers side door, where it couldnt quite make the door lock, but it would move a little.
I took off the door panel and some of the glue that holds on that clear plastic sheeting inside the car door had dripped onto and dried all over the power lockin compoments. I cleaned it off and it works fine now.

Before you guys spend big bucks on actuators, try pulling the door panel, removing the plastic coating and drown every moving component in wd40. Move the rods back and forth with your fingers to see if it helps. Worked for me:thumb:

Seems like a common DSM problem. Mine have been toggling between locked and unlocked for about 2 years now. It sucks because I have remote keyless entry on my alarm and when I use the remote to unlock my doors it just locks right back unless you are fast enought to open the door at the right time. :(

ok a few months ago my 98 eclipse rs was broken into. the deuchebags broke my driverside window. so i got my window replaced at an autoglass shop. a day or so after getting it back, my driverside door started to not lock every now and then. so i took it back. they said they fixed the problem. it worked for a week or so, and then it started to act up again. it will lock every now and then. does anyone have a clue as to why it is doing this. i don't want to open the door panel and try to fix it without knowing what the problem might be....and i don't want to take it to the dealership...any ideas?

i' ve been an installer for6 years. my first question is do you have power door locks mastered from a switch in the door or are they remote controlled, and if you do have a switch on the door, do you know if its stock or aftermarket. let me know and i can probably give you a good start in the right direction. :thumb:

ow it seems like dejavue (sp?) i have a 98 rs, my car got broekn into, i took it get fixed and bam, drives side lock doesnt work, i also have power locks, and i just got my alpine alarm installed. the remote lock buttom works only for the passenger side, it "tries" to lock my drivers side but doesnt, i tore my panal off and tried to bend that metal rod and i think i messed it up even more, it still doesnt lock, i researched and found sometimes that rod gets caught, but i cant tell and even if i could see anything i dont know what to do about it.. i really need help.

someone help us!!

uhhh mine wasnt broken into and the power lock wont work...i think the motors shot...it used to twich now it doesnt...took apart the door panel and it just wasnt gettin enough power to move the rods to flip the lock...i think its an actulator or something ...im not really worried about it cus its the passenger side..had it been the driver side i would be pist off

On my 92 talon, for some reason when i go to lock the doors, they just go back to unlocked??? I can't get the key in the driverside door, but i can get it in the passenger side, but it won't turn. So i try to lock it from the inside, but as soon as i push it to locked, they just pop back to unlocked.. can anyone help with this? Thanks, B

You will need to take off the door panels (easy to follow tech article: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205926) and check to see if anything is getting in the way of the rods that lock the doors and you can also take out the key part and clean it out and check to make sure it's working properly. I have already had to take apart the drivers side beacuse the piece that connects to the lock broke off. When you push the lock over to the locked position the rods will move and if something is in the way so that they can't move into the locked position, then it will pop back open. It is hard to explain in words, but once you have the door panel off, it is easy to figure out how it works. :thumb:

Heres the deal...my power door locks arent working, and when i hit the lock button, a click comes from the center console, behind my cd player. has anyone else encountered this problem before, and if so, can you tell me what the deal is?

My car had an after market alarm system, which apparently a blind man put in...it was the most jumbled up mess of wires i have ever seen. However, it hasnt worked since i bought the car...i figured that it may have something to do with it...

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

the fuses are fine...the only thing i could think of was that the relay went bad...but i wanted to see if anyone else had this problem before i fork out 70 bucks for a new one

The door locks dont do anything, on either side. just the "click" from the relay behind my cd player. How much did it cost to replace the actuators? and was it easy to do?

The power door lock relay is behind there (left one of the 2 - other is the starter relay). See if you get +12V (to ground) on the blue/black wire when locking and the blue/red when unlocking. If not, replace the relay. If yes, you have either a bad lock actuator, or the black wire no longer goes to ground, or there is a wiring problem between there and the lock actuator.
It's unlikely the alarm has anything to do with it since the relay has power and the alarm should never be connected there (of course you said he was blind...).

They sell kits on ebay with 2 actuators and stuff like that, alarm, trunk release for like 50$ if I recall, mine cost like 35$ without the trunk+alarm.
