the first problem is my exhaust manifold and turbo connected to it is cherry red...second problem is bov blows off around 5k and makes the engine sluggish but then itruns fine....this i all after i installed my fmic

Do a boost leak test. You most likely created a boost leak while installing the FMIC. With just your list of mods, you don't need a FMIC yet, and it's doing more harm than good at this point. I'd take it off and go back to stock until I was consistently heatsoaking the sidemount.

If that somehow didn't solve your problem, check your timing. Either way, unburnt fuel is escaping the combustion chambers and ...well, combusting in your turbine housing.

For the manifold and turbo, your running rich, so you have a boost leak somewhere. For the bov is it blowing off the pipe?

its not popping off the pipe its just blows around 5k...and i'll check for a boost leak

That's probably your problem. The PR bov is supposed to be pretty crappy. Get yourself a 1g or equivalent.

Make sure you recirculate it back into the intake pipe.

okay so the bov is pretty much answered....but back to my turbo and manifold being cherry red...is that due to a boost leak (havent been able to check due to school and rain)...if not a boost leak what else should i check for

read the thread!!!! they have already given you a really good reason for the turbo and manifold being cherry red and you have not addressed the situation. deal with that before you ask for info you may not need....... you posted the thread. thouroghly read the replys!!!!!

you might wanna read the thread too...i said i havent checked for a boost leak yet...but asked IF its not due to a boost leak what should i look for next

and they have already answered that by telling you to check for an over rich situation causing fuel to burn in manifold and turbo. so before you ask for more info do the test for the leak and the test for rich a/fr and go from there. go one step at a time. if everyone throws 20 things at you all at once it does no good in eliminating possibilitys in an orderly fashion!!!!!!!

Don't think too far ahead man, that's really the only two things that could cause it to glow more than normal. Do the BLT (not the sandwich kind, though it sounds delicious) and look over it meticulously for leaks. The only thing that has changed was the intercooler and piping. Reason dictates that's where the problem is coming from.

If you're running rich for whatever reason, fuel is not completely burned and is sucked out the exhaust. The turbo is part of the exhaust, and a very good place to notice things getting hotter than they should. This happens because of the heat surrounding the unburnt fuel particles causes them to ignite. What you're experiencing by accident is sort of like an anti-lag system (search for it if you're curious). Both can be fatal to your turbo if it happens for too long. It's a backfire, just higher up in the exhaust.

Like has been said in this thread several times, classic boost leak scenario. Test, fix, test, fix, until there are no more. Your turbo will be happy again. As will be your wallet, since MPG will go back up too.

i agree very much with the last post. obviously he was agreeing with me when i told you to take it one step at a time and take up a process of elimination. if ya just start doing random things you will spend money you didnt need to and wont have the money to fix the actual problem if there is one. let us know what you come up with.

Running lean can also make a manifold glow red. Double and triple check everything you disconnected. Make sure your running at the same boost you were before, as well as a boost leak test if that hasn't been covered.
