Ok so i'm running so rich that I shoot flames out of my exhaust, I dont know how long I have been running this way, as a friend of mine who was fallowing me the other day pointed out that I had a fire ball coming out of the back of my car whenever I shifted at redline. I have never done any tuning and as far as I know my ECU is set up for stock.
My question is: could a bad TPS cause me to be running so rich? I know that the TPS, coolant temp sensor and O2 all play into the ECU running in open or closed loop. Symptoms are a slight idle serge between 1000 and 1500 rpm's, also when on the freeway the car will suddenly lack power. If I rev it will backfire and correct the problem for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.
It will also studder once in a while when at WOT. All this seems to happen more when its cold out. The car also runs VERY cold, as in, I can be on the freeway while its 60 degrees out and my temp can drop below the first line on the stock gauge, somewhere around 100 degrees. I cant help but think these are all related, as they either all happen at once or not at all. Most of the time the car runs great.
Any help would be awesome.

Ryan

NOTE: when i tested the TPS it would not go above 3000 OHM. I unplugged the TPS and there was no change in how the car ran.

With the key on, engine off, check the signal output of the TPS while you move the throttle from fully closed from full open. It should change from around .63 volts (fully closed) to around 4.99 volts (fully open). It should change smoothly without any glitches, spikes, or dropoffs.

The engine temprature also plays a huge part. If you are running too cool, fix it! Your engine has to reach at least 185F-190F for the ECU to begin fine tuning your long term fuel mixture.

Another thing to do is make sure you don't have any boost leaks, and make sure you recirculate your BOV.

BOV is stock set up and no boost leaks, I tested the TPS again and same results... if my thermostat isnt working correctly that could solve a lot... I'll change that to start off with and see what happends. shouldnt the car idle differently if the TPS is removed?
