Alright, I am new to the site, but not to DSM's. I have a 99 eclipse spyder with the 2.4L engine. The other day, I went to start my car, and after I started it, It would not idle any lower then 2200rpm. I shut the car off, started it again, and same problem. I had to drive it home like this but once it got warm, she would idle from 1250 to 1500 rpm, as if the second it hit 1250, it would rise immediately to 1500, then drop, then rise again. I finally got it home, and shut it off, popped the hood, made sure all the connections were sound, started it again, and she idled fine. Ran fine the whole rest of the night. Next morning, starting cold, same problem where it would idle at 2000+rpm. I did not know what else to do, so I took the TB off, and cleaned the throttle plate up with a rag. ( I noticed that I have a lot of oil in my intake. bad PCV?) I was thinking that it could be the IAC, but unfortunately, was not able to get it off because the screws kept stripping. I was at a loss of what to do, so i took off the MAP sensor, and cleaned if with a rag, put it back on, and she would idle at around 1500. Took the map sensor out again, did a little more cleaning, and now she start strong, and then idles down into <500rpm. I have to keep on the gas or it will stall. With the engine off, my pocket logger software says the TP is 14%. I have no idea how this can be right, but it would explain why it runs so rich. If anyone has anything I could test, or a part that might fix it, please let me know. Thank you!
