Preparations for a Shep Tranny

Looking into getting a Shep stage 1 for my 97 Gsx. Pretty much have had drivetrain problems since ive had the car and im just sick of it (Which ive posted here in detail). Looking to figure out is there any particular things I should replace/mod before I put the stage 1 in for the long haul. Also is there a particular gear oil I should use? Plan on just using GM Synchromesh

My excedy stage 1 clutch/flywheel have around 1500 miles on them, my axles look ok, also changed out my master/slave. I have a couple odd ends I need to fix with the car (parking brake is really weak/questionable suspension, car is really low and the ride is rocky) but otherwise everything is alright and pretty much stock. Goal is about 300whp for drag.

I would check the entire clutch system to make sure it is in 100% operating condition. check the pivot ball, and maybe a braided ss clutch line. I would check the adjustment of the clutch system as well like Jack @ jacks transmissions recommends. i did this to my 1g and was AMAZED at how much different it shifted.

Yea ive pretty much done my research and going with redline mt-90. Called mitsu for the 05 evo mr oil and apparently they only sell it per 5 gallon ($300) tech told me if I can find a place that sells it in smaller amount to let him know Also going with Tre's 1.5 base tranny build.

But yea, doing the exchange service on tuesday.. i feel like I have a fair enough core to get the majority of my money back.. gunna use my old clutch/fwheel/clutch fork(1500 miles on all 3) while doing the skateboard mod, getting a ss clutch line, putting new axles in and refilling my tcase/rear dif with shockproof. Ill update this thread with results/pics on drivibility and such. Hopefully Ill have the tranny in and broke 500 miles in by the 28th to run my first 1/4 mile.
