hey guys, so when i bought this car i didnt have power steering and i got it put in and everything was good. This morning when i turn my wheels i hear a squeaking noise coming from the rack. the fluid is full and it only started coming today.

im uploading a vid right now of the sound to better show you guys. im hoping its not the rack thats going bad :(

Could be a leak in the system, do you feel the steering wheel gets harder sometimes when you turn it?

I would check the belt for wear and tension also there are characteristic sounds the power steering pump will make before dying this might be one.

The belt is good but it might not be tight enough because my waste gate is in the way so ill try re-tightening it.

The steering wheel is smooth and I don't feel any jittering in it. Its only making noises which is embarrassing and I don't want this issue to grow.

sound like a balljoint or a tie rod with rust in it it happen sometime try to put lube in them to see if its still noisy.

Two comments. First, I love the audio that was posted, since it's reminds me of Roxy Music's Love is the Drug which is a favorite song of mine. Second, I completely agree with Pom that that sounds much more like suspension bits or a tie-rod end than the PS pump or the rack.

I'll have to second that being a suspension or steering component rather than anything to do with the hydraulics.

Ok I greased everything up and I noticed the driver side tie rod bushing is completely gone and its sitting crooked. Ill fix that and see if the noise is still there. And the noise is there even with the car off.

crap, I think its the tie rod. I took a pic of it, it doesnt look normal LOL

"Outer tie rod". If Moog is an available brand, I would go with them (MOOG Part # ES2347RL). If you do this job yourself, just make sure you count how many turns it takes for you to get that off, or it will mess with your alignment (always a good idea to get it aligned anyway). Oh, and you will need either a pickle fork or front end service kit. Those can be quite fun if rusted on there.

I sure hope that that's lithium grease, because I gotta ya, that wasn't my first impression. I was actually worried that you take the saying "I love my car" waaaaaay to literally. But I digress....

You're gonna have to put grease inside the boot if you want to have good result.
