Edmonton,
When I turn either left or right at slow speeds (ie. pulling out of a parking lot) I hear a clicking sound. I searched for this symptom and I have read that it may be a rip in the CV Boot which causes a buildup of dirt and grime in the CV Joint and also causes the loss of grease in the CV Joint which therefore causes the clicking sound. My question is:

If in fact the boot is torn and this is the cause, can I just replace the outer boot and repack it with grease? This sounds like an easy fix but I don't want to goto all that trouble to find out in a month that the CV Joint was severely damaged and I have to go in there and redo it all again. I am not the best at suspension work and do not have alot of experience with it, I am better with under the hood items. If this isnt too much of a difficult task I will definitely attempt to fix it myself to save a few bones and for the experience as well. Input guys?

If it's just mild clicking now only when you turn, you may get some life out of them if you act fast.
Here's and VFAQ if you didn't know....<a href =http://www.vfaq.com/mods/CVboots.html>Click Here</a>
If you don't want to buy the tools and special grease and all of the shit, then let me suggest removing both axles and taking them to a shop that can repack them for you....

if they have never been replaced then it would probably be a good idea to get new CV shafts installed. When I bought my car one side was gone and my mechanic said it would be cheaper and more time effective to just replace the shafts.

Whats the difference between replacing the entire CV Shaft vs. the entire axle?

On a FWD, there are a passenger side and a drivers side axle. These are referred to as CV shafts on FWD powered cars. If you replace both cv shafts, then you are replacing the entire axle assembly and your clicking problem will go away. :thumb:
