power steering quit working

ok so my power steering worked fine. The belt got old and snapped. i put on new belt. Now i have no power steering. WTF the belt doesn't squeal and i can see the power steering pump pulley spinning. It's full of fluid with no leaks.
So WTF

Check to make sure fluid is circulating. The pulley might have locked up and caused the belt to come off and now the pulley is just spinning because it has broken loose. Also try bleeding the system to see if it may be clogged or air in the system.

how do i go about bleeding it. Should i just let it run with the cap off?

Check to see like 95BlackgsTurbo says and to bleed the system, you have the car running and if you can get the front wheels off the ground, if not it's just tougher on the tires and for you to crank the wheel. BUT, you do is turn the steering wheel full lock to lock a couple of times watching for the fluid to change level and if there's air in the system it'll work it's way back to the reservoir and it'll take a few times to do this.

I don't think the pump most likely didn't just up and seize just because the belt snapped. It's designed to run like that in an emergency. Unless the thing was totally dry. I think it's just got air in the system from pushing the fluid around while the pump wasn't turning.

I know it didn't run dry. Before it did this, if i turned the wheel to full lock on either side, the belt would squeal really loud. So im guessing there has been air in it.

The belt would squeal really loud because you were on the lock and working the pump so hard that the belt was slipping. Sounds like the pump locked up and threw the belt when it went out.
