OK, my power steering pump is leaking from the top nut where the hose connects and runs to the back of the engine bay. I bought the power steering gasket kit from the dealership. My question is...once I replace the couple gaskets/washers around the top (I am not doing the whole rebuild) then I put the hose back on, after I fill the reservoir with fluid, does it need to be bled or anything or will it be fine just putting the hose back on and filling the reservoir up???

You should be fine by filling it up. The pump will need to circulate some oil to clear out any air. The rack should not be affected. The washers that seal the fitting are a compression style gasket. You don't have to reef on them to seal the fitting. Some use p/s fluid , some atf. Tres...

Yea I wasnt sure if the air would escape on its own or what. And what do you mean by compression style gasket?

When you torque down the fastener that is the big center bolt, the metal of the banjo fitting is much harder (dense) than the washers. They sacrifice to the shape of the fitting's mating surfaces. You can kind of feel when the nut is the correct tightness. That applies to all fasteners by the way. Don't want to sound like a nerd- I am a 45y. old ASE mechanic.

OK now I have a slight problem. The seal kit came yesterday. I picked it up and there are, well, just that....seals. Rubber O-rings and a couple different shaped rubber gaskets. It did not come with any washers.

Now, I have not taken off the upper nut/bolt from the power steering pump, so I am not sure if it is copper crush washers that I need or what. I see there is a big washer that sits under the nut, it is a little bigger than the nut and is a silver color. Is that the only washer? I know there has to be something I am missing here....a copper crush washer below and above the banjo fitting/line?

FML, seal kit my ass!

I had them print out an exploded view of the PS pump so I knew what o-rings to use. There is one stud that sits in the pump and then 2 o-rings and then a stud that sticks out of the pump and then 2 o-rings on top of that.

But aren't there crush washers or something for the banjo type fitting connected to the high pressure line? Or do those tiny o-rings just happen to seal it up? (which doesnt make sense to me)

Do I reuse the washers that are already in or? I know there has to be some type of crush washer or something...dont know the size though. The seal kit did not come with any washers. Only the rubber o-rings. If those o-rings are all that is needed, can someone tell me how that works? It doesnt seem logical to me. I want to have all the parts before tearing into shit.
