Power Steering Pressure Switch wire - okay to remove?

Hi, searched but didn't find any discussion of the pressure switch in the 2G power steering pump, this guy:

Think there would be any harm in removing that just to tidy things up a bit? Does it just drive an idiot light? Thanks in advance.

Them wires get brittle and brake allot. You can remove it yes, n the CEL shouldn't turn on. The only side affect is that the strain the power steering pump puts on the engine will decrease your RPM's and possibly causing your engine to cut out. Nothing bad will happen its there just to sense the pressure of the pump from the wheels turning to tell the ecu to bum up the RPM's a bit to not stall out the engine.

if you remove it your car will most likely stall when turning at idle

Thanks for the replies. Never thought about it feeding into the ECU to adjust RPMs. Kinda like how the RPMs increase when the A/C kicks on. I think I'll leave it.
