I tried searching but couldn't find any specific answers to this...

I see the bolts I'm supposed to loosen on the PS pump to change my belt. Unfortunately, the pulley is in the way so I can't get to the bolts on the left side of the PS Pump(looking at it from drivers perspective) through the pulley holes. How do I get to those two bolts. I've tried moving the pulley by hand but it won't budge and turning on and off the car till I get lucky just ain't working for me.

You can turn the engine by putting a 1/2" drive ratchet or breaker bar into the harmonic balancer. Or you can loosen the alternator/WP belt so the water pump and PS pulleys won't have any resistance.

Stick a 1/2" ratchet with extension bar into the crank pulley inside the drivers side wheel well (there's a small hole allowing you to get at it even without removing the wheel) then you can turn the engine over which turns the power steering pulley allowing you to access those two bolts you speak of.

Thanks, so after I remove those 2 bolts I should be able to slide the Power steering rack forward and take off the belt correct?

are you tightning the belt or replacing if your replacing then cut it and then loosen the bolts other wise youll have to turn the engine over or loosen the alt!

I'm actually replacing the belt. The one I have on now is totally thrashed.

If you are replacing it then yes, there are 2 bolts on the pulley side and 1 one the back side directly in clear view off the o2 housing.

There are 3 bolts for the power steering pump for the 2.0 cars not sure about the 1.8

I printed out that page and replaced my belts in no time.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I finished this in now time now.

Only one thing.. after finishing up with my car, I had to head to school. Well on my way there my TIMING BELT SNAPS on the freeway! what are the freakin' chances.

Dropped it off at the mechanic he said 170 + me buying the part and he'll fix it. Normally I would fix something like that myself but I'm so busy this weekend.
