Power steering nipple

What's the purpose of the nipple on the power steering? Also I've been having trouble with my alternator. Another thing too is my battery keeps getting hot after driving. I've also been shorting my headlights out. But when its on high beam its ok and doesn't burn out. My gauge cluster is also very bright. Any ideas anyone?

Have you check your alternator for high charging voltage?. Maybe is putting to much to the battery and will over kill it, Check your electrical lines from the beams. could be a burn wire,

If i remember right, the nipple is to sense when the car is stopped and needing the power steering. you could honestly do without.

Has the car ever had an alarm installed or had the wiring out of it? Something seems really off here. You should check the voltages going to the headlights with a volt meter as they should not be "shorting out"

What's the purpose of the nipple on the power steering?

Pretty sure its used for turning sharp at slow or no speed. If the power steering system has excessive pressure, the wire senses it and the ECU kicks up the idle.

Its most likely the voltage regulator dumping high voltage through you battery and lights causing lights to blow and your batter to overcharge hence getting very hot replace your ALT and you'll be good to go

I changed my alternator 4 times in 6 weeks, Check your power steering pump for leaks. It will kill your alternator in seconds, one drop is more then enough to kill it.
