Power Steering help

Well guys after purchasing my 1g Talon with some of the power steering components off. (Reservoir, pump, and belt) I've tried to put the power steering back on the car since its such a pain to drive without it. So I put on the pump with a new belt and reinstalled the reservoir. Now I filled up with PS fluid but when I am driving the car the PS seems like its not at 100%. When at a stop its almost like I don't have PS at all, but when I start driving or when the rpm's go up it feels like the PS is coming around. (not at its best but working) What could my problem be?? I don't see any PS fluid leaking at all. I even jacked up the car and spun the wheels back and forth while adding PS fluid attempting to bleed it. Thanks guys!

But yeah... if a Mitsu service tech (or anyone reputable for that matter) is going to rebuild a pump, they are going to replace all consumables and wear items, rather than risk catching grief for another failure a few months later, due to other old parts that were left in place.

Well I looked at the extreme psi ps rebuild kit and its listed from 7/90 - 5/94. On the inside of my door jamb it says July 89? (7/89) So this kit will not work with my ps pump???

After a bit of searching I found this part number MB553032 it's listed on JNZ for $80...that's too high of a price for a rebuild kit....it would just be cheaper to find a 91-94 ps pump and rebuild that....my next question would be that should be a direct replacement correct??

Has anyone ever ran into this problem? My PS is full and will not take any more fluid. I've bleed it countless times. It also does not leak at all but my PS only works when I am accelerating. When I'm am at a stop it feels as if the PS is removed. It's a pain and I absolutely hate it. It makes my car feel like a boat. Has anyone ever ran into this?

I see that issue pretty often on Intrepids and the like. It's usually always caused by a worn out pump, and a plugged filter screen in the reservoir.

However the filter screen in the reservoir doesn't restrict the intake of fluid to the pump on a DSM the way it does on a Chrysler product. I would still replace the pump, and flush the system.

Thanks a lot for the help! I guess I am going to have to take that route. I've been trying to research if a 2g pulley and pump will bolt to my 1g setup and work fine!
