Power Loss(electrical)!!!

I was driving home from work the other day, when my car shut off, mid drive.
my friend jumped me, and i drove about 50 feet down the road, then it died again.
i got sick of it and threw a jumper box under my hood and made it about 2 miles, back to my house.

the next day i went to check out what the problem was. i popped the hood, and jumped my car, leaving the jumper cables connected, so that it wouldnt stall. out of nowhere, my belt started to shred.

Im not sure whether or not i need to replace my alternator, or if it could have been a bad belt that wasnt turning my alternator...?

anyways, i am looking to replace my belts and alternator(if necesary).
Smart idea to go to autozone and get duralast?? i have a system in my car that produces 500rms between the 2 12" subs and a dvd deck, which uses a bit of electricity.

I plan on going to autozone adn getting the 75 amp alternator(duralast) and belts(also duralast)... good idea? or no

idk, when i started my car to test the alternator, the belt started to shred, i dont want to chance turning the car on

i went to autozone today to get a price idea...looks like im gonna be spending around 300 for the alt and all new belts

Get the biggest and best alt. you can find and the best belt you can find. Do not buy reman. they are just a quick fix and some shiny paint. If your going to keep it spend the money. also check your other pulleys to make sure they are not going bad.
