powdercoat or dip rims?

ANY powdercoating questions? feel free to pm me. I did the sh*t for 7 yrs in a custom shop doing everything from vc's to car frames. Rims???!!!! how nice do you want them to be. if your looking for a show finish, DON'T have them powdercoated. while it is a extremely durable finish, it is difficult to control the finish. i.e. orange-peel, dirt-nibs, craters. powder magnifies ANY imperfection in the metal. if its on a dd and your not overly concerned with perfection than by all means have them powdercoated.

Coming from the paint world and never messing with PC,I'm curious how PC sands. I know it's more durable than auto paint(that's what worries me about sanding), but I've always noticed more orange peel than I care for with PC.
BTW-I graduated from a little town just north of you-Maquoketa. Ever heard of it?

Dip? Maybe he meant wrap? You can have your Rims wrapped in cf.. but IMO, powdercoat will last you much longer.

I know what Hydro dip is.. they've been doing it on guns for years. Wrapping still has a better look/appeal. Powdercoat last longer by far though.

you can sand and buff pc but its a crap load of work, there are certain p-coating guns that can help limit flaws. the shop I use to work for was THE ONLY shop that could manage to satisfy Standard Byke Co. the main thing is find someone who has done p-coating for a while and you should be o.k.

hell yeah I use to go to the caves all the time!

OMG those rims... hahah they look crazy!!!

I usually just duplicolor paint them because my preference changes and I want to be able to adjust to my liking with out any hassles. If they aren't holding up I just repaint cause it's cheap.
