i have the ones from ssautochrome, i got pics of them before install and after but my damn digital camera aint workin LOL, ill find a way to post tho

I have the OBX Header, The Same ones in the Pic, And They work just as good as my greddy header did. I gave it to my lil bro. One thing to remember is that a header will not give you high HP gains necessarily. It should give you around these HP gains. This is what my dad and I came up with, After we installed my greddy header we did a little dyno testing. there was a definite shift in the powerband at exactly the midrange--from 3500rpm to 4500rpm. At the time my dad told me not to expect a lot of HP gains. And that the rest of the powerband would only shift up slightly. And at the 3500-4500rpm range there should also be a nice increase in usable torque we came up with. Hp +.4 TQ + 2.7 But just because there are minimal Power gains from a header does not mean they are a bad mod. The faster you get the nasty exhaust out the better

Here is my ssautochrome header:thumb: :dsm:
I am completly happy with it
BTW that is not a o2 bung, my dad explined it to me as this..... It hooks up to the block somehow(he didn't go into detail) but it helps with expand the piston rings to give a better seal in the cylinders. Drag racers have been ising them at the track forever From what he say's( I Trust the man frankly due to his EXTENSIVE hot rod building history)

:thumb: thanks for the info on the headers and the hp gains on the test that you and your dad did. just came back from the import shop, quote me the greddy headers about $450.00.. but heard that most headers all do the same amount of increase..

Wow, those ssautochrome headers are blingin. I would like to know if you guys also have I/E mods done. Cause I already have my I/E done and am thinking a header would give good gains.. Keep em coming. My only worry is getting my existing header off. After that if the new one matches up it should be a simple install. But, the mere HP gains you guys are showing is not worth the cash..

:thumb: that's a good idea on the 02 placement, i might plug up mine when i get my headers and put it near the downpipe.. and thanks for posting up your pics and i hope that others we read this thread will get some good information from you guys who post them up.

There is one near the downpipe on the left side looking down. That is not of O2, it has a completly different use. But believe me the O2 bung is on the same side as your exhuast manifold if ya take a look:thumb:

What is I/E?? So far the power is more upperend but that and the CAI sound awesome, I am still waiting on the rest of my exhuast to come in(hiflo cat and apexi n1)

by i/e he means intake and exhaust.

About the o2 sensor, what r u talkin about? on the header or the dp? if u r facing the car i have my o2 sensor on the left bung. Is it not supposed to go there?

I thought he meant the huge bung on the right(facing the header) Mine is on the left. Near the a/c compressor. The one on the right is for something engine related not smog
sorry for the confusion

i ahve the same ones fromsschrome but my ine after a 4 month period turne bronze LOL but still shiny LOL. but good performance not alot but it sound alot menaer.

I polish mine with mothers mag polish every few days it keeps them mostly silver, If the get bad then my dad has the metal polish stuff that is amazing, he got it from a fleamarket vendor and the stuff even works on plastic(clearing up headlights) stainless steel does discolor that is a fact, if they don't they are not stainless. Keep up with the maintainance to keep em clean. Also make sure you wipe them off of fingerprints(greasyones esp.) before firing up the header, causes hot spots that don't come out no matter how much you polish.:thumb:

there is a thread called "best 420a header?" where you can read abut headers. i have some posts in there. i personally suggest to get the ones in the pic (OBX), i was first thinkin of getting those but then decided to get OBX ceramics for better scavenging from a seller, probably the seller with that pic cuz theres only 2 who sell those obx that puts up ceramics evry onece in awhile.

I disagree with your father on this one. The exhaust itself can't be introduced in to the crankcase because it will drive pressures through the roof and contaminate the crankcase with exhaust gases and deposit carbon inside as well.

The 2gnt's with manual transmissions had an emissions component referred to as a pulsed secondary air injection system. This system was designed to inject fresh air in to the exhaust system BEFORE the catalytic convertor. This component was removed during a recall procedure exlained here:
http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72074

This component was plumbed in to the exhaust system on the driver's side of the downpipe. The bung located on that header would have been of the same diameter of the piping used on the pulsed secondary air system. Chances are very high that the manufacturer of the headers that have a bung in the same spot used the set-up to meet the emissions requirements that the 95 2gnt had. With the introduction of the recall, it would have been too expensive to redesign a header. So they simply blocked it off with a cap.

If you have any links that support your dad's thoughts then feel free to link them. I'd like to read up on it.
Doug

I think that is what he was talking about it hooks into the air box creates a vacume and allows fresh air into the exhaust port. I might have not been paying attention
any ways here is a link to what I think he was talking about Sorry If I was wrong

Yeah, that's it. I wasn't sure which way you were saying the air or exhaust was going. But yes, this type system was introduced about 2 decades ago and as the engine management systems get better and better the manufacturers have found ways to improve emissions without that one particular component. Thanks for the info.

i notice that the stainless steel seems to last a bit longer but the problem with be that it gets hotter with stainless steel. with the ceramic headers they can hold the heat but in time, they chip off and under all of that is nothing but just plain steel. i ask the VIP performance racing about the types, and notice that stainless steel headers got much more then the ceramics..

i dont want to put those heat tapes, cause they dont look too good, but im gonna do some research on other ways to reduce the heat from the stainless steel headers..

oh.. THANKS GUYS for all your post and information.. im gonna get the OBX Stainless Steel 4-1 Header (from the pic i 1st posted). and im thinking of getting the N-1 Full Cat-Back Exhaust.

While that is true, My car can get pretty warm under the hood from my header. but with my CAI and Vis CFH GT Hood, Has 2 reverse vents it did not seem to bother it. Right now my car is down and out for the count some dick head hit it while it was parked in the drive way. Motor is being rebuilt and it was just sitting there when some drunk dick decided my drive way would be a good place to make a u turn....im still mad about it and it happend like last week:mad: o check this game out it kicks ass http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/160660
