I'm excited because I got my valve cover powder coated and I put it on today (without cracking it! YAY). But I'd like to see others peoples engines also. I think those of you who aren't in states like Cali can be a little more "expressive" with your visual mods under the hood. Enjoy...

yeah i know.....I used to want to polish everything but I have since decided to change my plan of action. Here is the new plan, paint everything that isn't black already satin black so taht it fits in more(any non idiot will notice its not stock but anything helps) Then paint the valve cover some obscene color/s so that the majority of your attention will be drawn to it instead of the rest of the bay, I figure its worth a try.

Also could you post your method of how you clean it.

make sure engine is cold/warm IMPORTANT: engine can not be hot!!!
spray with water, aviod heavy spraying on coil pack, battery, etc...
spray engine with simple green/engine foamy cleaner/degreaser...or hell all of the above
let cleaner sit then go at it with a brush, not wire brush just a tough plastic bristle brush.
spray off with hose and dry with towel
go over all plastics, hoses, pipes with armor all or if you can find it black magic tire wipes they work better.

I dont have any pics but the way I clean my engine bay for shows is...while the engine is warm spray it down with some tire foam cleaner. Just leave it sit and let the foam do its stuff, then after an hour or so...wipe everything down with a rag... :D

I dont have any engine pics yet...but they are comming soon. However your powder coating job looks GREAT!!! To clean my engine for shows I let the engine warm up slightly and use either de-greaser or carborator cleaner. Carborator cleaner is a lot cheaper and de-greaser and its more effective. I also use a toothbrush and a rag. Also make sure you use a nice clear coat paint on your hoses. They look very nice afterwards!

for engine cleaning simple green, engine brite, and carb cleaner are probably not your best opitons. simple green and engine brite take casting off bolt :barf: and have taken off some paint with carb cleaner :thumbdown . do search on here you will find a really good cleaning method from the archives. also when spraying down your engine cover your cas with something otherwise it could be a costly mistake..

my dirty engine .....right here..........i gotta clean it up today with some hot water and armor all spray......once i get it all cleaned up, it looks really clean and shiny.
te amo mas konejita!!!!

Metalic green on a metalic base. Not on the car yet, but the engine is all yanked out and in the process of a rebuild. Had a spare cover off the blown engine the car came with which was still in good condition, so we painted that one up and we'll set it aside till the engine is back in to prevent dings and scrapes.

as for cleaning, if you're talking about preping it before paint, meaning you have it off the head. We used a grease cutter and let it set on and some elbow grease to wipe it all down good, to get into the tight curves around the spark plugs we wrapped a flat head with a rag to get in the corners really nice.

After that we used a compressor at 120psi and blew all the grime/dirt out of all the cracks. IF painting it, as we did, we went over everything with a 320 grit sand paper to make sure the paint would stick to it.

I'll get in on this, any excuse for me to show off my engine bay..LOL

Who sells that upper radiator hose??? I've seen that on a few cars but I'm wondering how expensive it is. Is it just a cover that slides over the stocker or is it a whole new hose??
