So, knowing from experience dsms have alot of issues. No matter how well they are built something alwayys goes wrong!

So, with that being said. I want to see what kinds of problems (big or small) that people have had in the past. So, if youve had problems (which everyone has) post in here what your problem was and what you had to do to solve it. Post before/after pics.

ive had my 2g for 4 years. its my dd, and i race it once in a while even though its stock. i did all the maintenance and make sure to keep up on it and all ive done is change the timing belt ( not big deal) and put a new alternator and battery. also some rubber hoses that broke. if you keep them clean and up on their maintenance they are reliable cars and run for a long time. i got 127k on mine. dont let the fools who get these cars and screw them up and give us bad raps. treat them right like any car and they will treat you right too. check my pics for recent. haha. had to get towed for the coolant lines. why not, free towing. :)

Dsm are reliable stock, i've seen 160k+ and going strong. change the timing belt like the service Manuel said and everything is good to go.

Now if you touch it(internal wise) you are going to dig up a can of worms. if you leave it untouch and keep a maintenance on it just reliable as any other car on the planet.

I am carious how many miles our members are rolling on. <---this should be a good new threat to start.

I agree +149,000
It's not just dsm, if you are an a$$h0l3 that treats your car/dsm like a cheap prostitute it will fail and become unreliable.

Well, I have a 93 GSX and mostly the only problems that I've been having lately is that my crank pulley keeps ripping its self apart, so I just buy another one for like $20 but thats mostly it.

Start the miles thread. I wanna know
1) how much when they got the Dsm
2) how were put on the body
3) and also if they rebuilt/stock/aem vs oem intervals

I would just keep it stock, but of course it is more fun to mod them. If you mod yours make sure you read up on the forums first.

1. Don't vent your bov
2. Get a real boost gauge
3. Make a boost leak tester
4. Buy a service manual, do all necessary maintenance

I'm sure there is more that I am forgetting.

I had a few nice problems that all arose from not first checking the forums:
-Vented BOV, fouled my plugs and wires the car was misfiring like hell in boost
-Front o2 sensor was bad, went to change and somehow fried the ecu
-Fixed the ECU ground trace, which was too strong (or something) and fried my MAF, TPS, BCS
-Tapped my Type S bottom nipple into the line going to the BCS, got major boost spike
-Hooked up a bleeder type MBC as if it were ball and spring.. oops

Those have been my only problems so far..

My DSM is pretty well moded internally, don’t have cams in it at the moment and that is all I will need to put it where I want it to be. The block has about 150K miles on it chassis has about 98K, however it hasn’t ran in over a year. Biggest problem I have had with it has been money, or more specifically the lack there of and I haven’t won the lottery yet so I don’t have a good fix for that yet.
