Well, after reading all of the threads about porting, I dove in. I took pics along the way for those who are looking to get a feel on this project. Take a look and let me know what you think.

1. My stock 2G (extra) exhaust manifold and the MD171220 7cm gasket I used to match the inlet.

2. With the gasket removed, you can see the scribe line and the amount of work ahead of you.

3. I CHEATED! I have a router which took hours off this job. Start with the router to match the scribe line. Once you're finished with the router, grab your die grinder and smooth and blend everything together. I highly recommend using a router if you have access to one. Start to finish, it took me about 2 1/2 hours and the finish barely needs any sanding.

More pics to come...

instead of making another thread i thought i'd just add my q's onto this one:

1-manifold has never been removed, how hard is it to remove the bolts and will they break?

2-what sort of power gain should i expect from this little mod? as in hp

3-i'm tuning with safc2, should i retune anything or should i be fine?

4-i want to ceramic coat it while its out, is this wise? would it just peel off?

5-should i port anything else while i'm down there?

thanks in advance

If you remove the bolts when the turbo is hot it will make it easier but it is possible you will break one.. Head to mani spray will pb blaster and slowly bring those out when the engine is warm not hot..

You wont notice much gain besides your turbo spooling faster.. should have to change tune.. You can ceramic coat it but stock heat sheild is better

You should port the turbo to match perfectly to prevent turbulance..

PB Blast the hell out of everything. I'm not sure on 2g's but you have to remove the power steering belt/pump to get the bolt all the way down in the corner of the manifold. For studs that don't come out I used the double nut method.
