Popping out of 5th gear after accelerating

Ok so I have a problem with my tranny. Recently my tranny grinds a little everytime i put it in 4th and then all of a sudden i put it in 5th and it pops out everytime I accelerate. I can put it in 5th and not accelerate but i soon as i touch the pedal its outa there.

Heres what i have drivetrain wise... I cut my stock shifter about 1.5-2 inches... I have had the tranny replaced with another rebuilt from a junk yard. I have a new clutch as well. And my throwout bearing is making a horrible noise when in neutral and lately even when im in gear, it stops usually when i have the clutch in. when a mechanic installed my tranny he said he installed and adjusted new linkeage but i don't think he did.

so anyway is it the synchros? a fork? bleed the clutch?

What about my tranny being different than that AWD tranny? Will it still be the same process?

Well, when I had this problem a while back, I was told after inspection, that I had bad synchros....Since I bought this car used, I already had every intention of rebuilding the transmission (so whether the diagnosis was true or not was irrelevant) It cost a few dollars mind you, but I've not had any transmission issues since.

I forgot to add this....Defiant left a great article as into what to look at first...I would too suggest following that first.

I have a problem similar to this in 4th. Under acceleration its difficult to get in to gear. If i'm just driving regularly, it does it less often. Once its in it doesn't pop out though. No other gear does this. Could the vfaq help me as well? Sorry to ask this in your thread. Tell me how it works for you bro.

BTW, his car is a non-turbo. The vfaq doesnt apply to the 420a. Just noticed that.
