I've done a search and haven't found anything that really tied into my issue. This is a non-redundant issue that I've encountered before but it only lasted for a short while. Currently, I have a quite new clutch master & slave cylinder and am using Delphi 5.1 clutch fluid. One concern I have is that my clutch fluid is black, not from dirt, but perhaps worn rubber due the 5.1 fluid maybe. I tried using some Castrol GT LMA DOT 4 (or three) clutch/brake fluid and the pedal just sticks to the floor. I think that once I used the 5.1 stuff, since it's synthetic, I'll have to stick with it. Anway, the engagement is normal, but the pop is very noticeable and you can feel it in the pedal when it happens. Thanks in advance.

I think theres a spring and some plastic bushings right next to the brake pedal, clutch overturn spring or somthing like that... check to see if it's worn or if the bushings need to be replaced... Really hard to guess without feeling or hearing it though :)

I'm pretty sure I've actually had the same thing happen. The fix was to replace the spring and the white plastic (nylon?) bushing that goes on the spring. It's hard to explain, and it was hard to explain to the Mitsu techs, but once I showed them exactly what noise it was making and what you had to do to make the noise, they understood and replaced the parts. It was a pretty expensive fix for a noise, though. If it happened again, I probably wouldn't bother with it, personally. It IS annoying, though. :) Once you get on your hands and knees or upside down, you can actually see the spring I'm talking about, but you won't be able to see what actually "makes" the noise. It's kinda weird.

Thanks for the responses. It seems as if I'm missing a spring that attaches to the hole in the clutch pedal linkage! WTF I'll just deal with it, it's more annoying than anything else.
