All Right, My 1ga's stupid pop lights are broke:banghead:, wont go up or down, and I have looked everywhere for a convertion for them that isn't the 1ga to 1gb.
Needless to say I'm tired of dealing with pop ups changed the moters on my trans am's 4 times already and dont want to get into that money hole with my talon.
If anyone knows of a rebuild kit for the motors or a set of Lamans style lights:thumb: for it let me know.

Thank you

ive been having issues with mine... i just unpluged the motor and re-attached the arm to the light set them about 3/4 up and they havent moved and light up the road at night as best that they can

You could look for a wiring diagram and diagnose the problem? Only issue I've had with mine is a splice in the harness went bad causing 1 not to go down all the time. Do you have a bad fuse? Bad relay? Bad switch? Bad motors? Bad wiring? Rusted hinge points?

the driver motor is junk so i just locked them both up all the way cause the driver one is stuck there.

lock them up or just remove them and toss them out. We took them off in our rally car and secured them in the down position. Those motors assemblies are heavy!

They are not very problematic in these cars like some others. I've owned 6 1g's with popups and have not had a single problem with them. The problem could be in the wiring or switch. IF one motor is bad than buy a new one, the car looks kind of silly with the lights up all the time.

Maybe first pop off the linkage to the motor and check that the headlights go up and down freely. The hinges don't last forever if you never service them. I've had to lubricate mine in the past because they stop working. Then I work them up and down by hand a bunch of times to get whatever I use to lube them to soak in, pop the linkages back on the motors, and they are as good as new.

+1 on that. Seemed like my motor stopped working but just needed to lube the pivot points. After that it has worked perfect ever since.

Oh I see yea ill give it a try when I get the girl back she has a gas leak and I'm getting that fixed right now

I would definitely lubricate the hinges then maybe check if a previous owner did the chicklet mod, and check the relay. Mine has a bad relay and I'm just waiting to get another one. I have they set so they just stay up all the time for now.

Neither of mine will go up or down in my 90 either.. They were stuck up when I bought the car so thats how they stayed.. I cant even move them with the manual knobs..

only one one of mine will move

Well there is a small grey or black box behind i think the driver side kick panel that is the light control box they burn out and the lights will stay up. as for motors cant help ya that its seized but as for the hinges the dsms are pretty strong just need to keep the joints lubed up so they go up and down with ease. most neglect them and rust freezes them. i had a trans am and yes they are a cheap ass hinge assembly made of cast aluminum.

Yea, clean and (lightly!) grease them and they should work.

I know this is old but I wanted to update it. I finally got the itch to go out and tinker with my pop ups. I disconnecter the pushrod from the motors and pushed the button, motors turned! Awesome! Then I tried to force the lights down, they'd barely move. I then put a little lubricating oil on them and kept going up and down until they moved "freely".

Hooked them back up and pushed the button. Had to disconnect and lube and up/down a few more times before they would go up and down without any hiccups but they work now!!

If your lights dont go up or down, LUBE THE HINGES!!!

Wonder how simple it would be to convert motorized pop-ups to manual ones. As in "pull a knob/lever for lights to come up. Push to put them down" for those who has issues with actuators going out. Controls, obviously, need to be inside the cab, not under the hood.

So glad i live in CA where I don't have to worry about corrosion, and seizing headlights. all we het here is normal ware and tear on items. If I lived back east, my OCD would kill me inspecting all the moving parts for corrosion. Ahhhhhh. just thinking about makes me nuts
