Got a quick question maybe some of you can answer. If you use Msns, can you still pass emissions in oregon? If not what other options are there that would not affect that.

MS isn't compatible with OBD. So no, if your using MS you won't pass emissions.

Hopefully he'll chime in but Mark (bullettdsm) I thought when he showed me his setup on the n/t, that he kept the factory ecu installed with the MS hooked up and said he went through inspection like that and had no problems with emissions. Obviously PNP would not allow for this, but again, if Mark sees the post maybe he can clarify.

Yeah (kinda);

Because of all the testing/trouble-shooting I was doing with the set-up, I kept all the stock components installed. So for emissions, I had quick disconnects on the spark and the fuel. After connecting up to the stock wires, all I had to do was put the egr tube back on and viola', through emish we go :shhh:

So if im reading this right. This set-up isnt for a 95 eclispe 420a? because the 95's are OBDI ?? is it ever going to be. ### i dont want to mess my car up, i just wanna plug and play!
if its not for the 95 model, are there ways around it? using a sort of adapter or something?

1995's are OBDII. They use a different ECU though. No adaptors availiable to swap the ECU's between the years. Man up and rewire the car for MSnS :p

Will someone test this thing already, interested to see some results.

Just an update for everyone;
As Chris mentioned his '95 was incompatible. I have recently purchased the unit from him and will be giving it a shot. I don't have a built engine so I will only be running 10psi with it.. for now :)
My 2gnt is down right now, coolant issues; but I plan on getting it up as soon as possible.
I will keep you all posted.

"This isn't a test unit. It's a pre-release." Quoting Paul in a email which I spoke with him about the unit.
But if "testing" is what you want to call it, then yes, that is what I will be doing.
I have to do emissions, recieve my afpr and injectors, and fix a coolant issue.
After that is taken care of and the unit is installed I will update you.

well it seems that this ECU has swapped many hands and has come up with so many excuses to why it hasnt been tested...i know im personally waiting for testing to be done so they can fix bugs and release a final product.....i cant help but wonder if it were given to some on whos car had actually been running (dsm joke LOL) it might have been in production and available to everyone by now... so whats the ETA on your car rstare....are we going to be waiting till summer before it goes into testing? if thats the case hell id test it since ill be done with my rebuild in bout a month....i just really need to ditch the PF.....

I put it on to test it and it started up and drove around the block but that's as far as I went with testing it as I gave up trying to boost my old 420a.

Cool thanks man.

I am just as anxious as you are guys.
Like I also said, this isn't a test unit it is a pre-release. If I had it all hooked up and running tomorrow it wouldn't make a difference on the release date.

I gizzed in my pants when I saw this thread! I was ready to put off buying a new gun to pay for this, but it doesn't seem like it is ever going to be made.

Is our only option with the 420a is to use this setup? 420a Megasquirt EMS

If your creative and know how to use a soldering iron well/know the ecu pinouts, you can easily build your own. ;)

It's still on the way! Here's a recent post we made on another forum regarding Plug-and-Play 420A Megasquirt:

SymTech Labs said:
We've been working on a plug-and-play engine management system for the 420A for a while now. The open source nature of Megasquirt means that it's difficult to finalize a design before next generation hardware is available. If we had locked in one of our designs a year ago, our product would have forced our customers to settle for less. Furthermore, the 420A presents a few unique challenges to overcome while designing a full ECU replacement in a single package.

We strive to offer the best engine management systems available for the 420A platform. We apologize for the amount of time it has taken us to release this product. Designing a new product without cutting corners or taking advantage of our customers takes time. Please know that we're working as hard as we can and we appreciate your continued patience.

As news regarding Plug-and-Play 420A Megasquirt becomes available, it will be posted on our news page first. Please feel free to check there frequently:
