The wire for the knock sensor doesnt hang down like that unless its broken. The harness connector for the knock sensor is up higher on the firewall, and its only a one wire sensor. So its probably broke and you need to repair the wire. Or, replace the knock sensor, depending on where the wire is broke.

In the pictures above they are both the Knock Sensor. The grey connector is the corresponing connector with the wires hanging down. So yes they go together. I would say you might as well think about replacing the sensor as it has seen better days. The indication here is that most of the black material has come off the back of the sensor.

The knock sensor does have two wires. The connector is right where it is supposed to be on the intake bracket (picture #1). The car side of the harness uses a white wire and a black wire with the male half of that connection.

The connector is for the knock sensor and the knock sensor is in the 2nd pic. There is one wire but it actually contains two leads- one on the very inside and the 2nd braided around the inner wire's jacket. You can pull the pins out of the connector and reconnect the TWO wires but its a real pain. We did that on my buddies car when we rebuilt his engine and had no problems with it. Just took about 30 mins to pull the pins out. It might be better honestly just to buy a new knock sensor.
