Hi I just purchased my first DSM its a 96' GST Spyder and I'm going through all the basics right now like oil change and new plugs and wires. I apoligive if this is repetitive I did a lot of searching and found everyone loves the NGK bpr6es but when I look to purchase them I'm always told they don't fit and I'm suggested NGK platinums or iridiums? Can someone clear this up for me and tell the best plug and wire set up to run on my stock engine. Thanks alot

For a stock setup BRP6ES is a good plug. They fit. Its the 7's that wont fit. Trust me Ive tried

7131 is the part number for the ngk bpr6es plugs from Auto Zone.;) As far as the 7's not working :idontknow: Everything about their physical size is the same as the 6's. The only thing that is different is the heat range is colder. They are usually used when running higher boost pressures.

Thank you! I jus read that post saying that the BPR7ES's don't fit and I was like :confused:. They are EXACTLY the same size, just a cooler heat range.

Here is a very informative post from Brian:
B=thread diameter (14mm)
P=projected insulator
R=resistor type
6=heat range
E=thread reach (19mm or 3/4")
S=Standard 2.5mmø center electrode

The other ones have:
K=2-Ground electrodes
N=Special Side electrode

As for which to use, either will be fine. The 'ES plugs are what most people run (some run unprojected plugs - no P in the part number).

As you can see, BPR6ES and BPR7ES are identical except for the heat range.

To the OP, Don't take no for an answer. They fit. Here is the link to the ones you want, BPR6ES at Auto Zone. Like Gravedigger said, the part number is 7131.

Hope this helps!

Go with MSD 8.5 mm wires. You will feel a difference.

I have magnacore 8.5mm wires and to tell you the truth, for most power levels, the 7mm NGKs will work just as well. If you are on a budget, get the NGK wires. If you just want bigger wires and aren't on a budget, then go with the 8.5's. If I ever need to buy wires again, I wil get the 7mm NGK's.

I guess I just went from old stock wires to the MSD 8.5mm so I don't really have a frame of reference for the difference from the NGK 7.0mm wires. But my car definitely ran better with the MSD wires. My sister bought some cheaper 8.5mm wires for her tsi, don't remember what brand, but they were junk, the car ran better on the stock wires.
