Please help with low timing issue

I am having a hell of a time getting my 95 tsi tuned right. I have a evo B16g, fmic, 680cc, afpr, walbro 255, gm maft.
Here is the best thrid gear pull i have logged at 17psi

I have a keydriver chip that reads knock and it was showing 5-8 counts during the pull. My first thought was that i am too rich and getting rich knock. but the more i leaned it out the worse the timing and knock got. I have sruggled with this since i have got the car. I have checked the cam timing, replaced various sensors, and am using 7es plugs.

Any ideas ?

With 1.0volt o2's, that would say you are extremely rich. You say timing got worse as you leaned things out more? They say you can't tune off o2 voltages, ie you can't tune for .92 or .94, but with them being 1.0 volts, that would mean you are pig rich.
EDIT - Does your keydriver chip compensate for the injectors, or is all the fuel tuning done with the maft?

Yes, as you lean things out, the timing and knock get worse. the chip does compensate for the injectors but it is off a little bit. I have to have the afc at about -12 across the board. The afpr is set to 43psi with the vacume line unattached.

If leaning it out makes the knock worse, you need to either add fuel or take out some boost.

basically..if u pull some base timing out of the car...under full throttle you might get less knock and get more advance overall

You can't adjust base timing with 2gs

Ok now that you say Base timing it makes sense

And to corman you can adjust the base timing of any DSM...

on a 1g that is true...however, will need the right mods to adjust base timing on a 2G...ie: 1G CAS conversion. basically replaces the 2G sensors on the cam and crank.

I think its only the 95-96 that have the cam angle sensor on the cam gear. it is not possible to adjust unless like you said you do the 1g CAS conversion
