Please help need your opinions on body kits

Ok so i bought a 96 GS-T for1900, the only reason it was so cheap was because it looked like hell because it was a project car that the kid never finished (his mot said he got into drugs or something which would explain some of the stuff he did to the car) and he put on a rear bumper and side skirts which are both bondoed to the car.

The side skirts actually were put on pretty nicely but the back bumper is a nightmare. The fit around the tailights look awful and the bumper itself is starting to crack and fall apart. I was planning on getting a paint job but since the back bumper is falling apart i wouldn't be to happy when the paint cracks a week after getting it, so i'm thinking leave the sideskirts and get a OEM 99 front and back bumper. All I need to do is buy headlights for 97-99 for the front to fight right? and will the back fit ok? And would buying the OEM front and back bumpers off ebay be ok?
Also since he used bondo to mount the back bumper how do you suggest i take it off?

O yeah and it came with a front bumper that i bolted on but its an ebay cheap ass body kit so it fits like hell and is about as sturdy as a piece of paper.

Forget about spending money on the body and tune up the engine. I'd check for all the little things that people do that can be bad. Make sure the bov is recirculated, make sure there aren't any boost leaks, make sure your compression is good across the board, etc.. Body should be the last of your worries. I'd hate for you to spend $1000 on body and paint only to have to dump another $2000 into the engine.

what he said, id rather have a reliable car that looks 3 out of 10, than a car that looks great but doesnt run.

but if it runs good and doesnt need any engine work, you could always go the OEM way or look into some of our supporting vendors for a kit.

I would skip over ebay parts and look to junk yards and local DSMers for the bumpers. Honestly, you'll know they fit right if they've already been on a DSM and you should be able to pick some up fairly cheap. Have fun.

Yeah if your car is running good go for the Eclipse 97-99 Look, those look best for our car. Also change the side skirts to stock 97-99 Eclipse, those flow better with the 97-99 Eclipse front and rear bumpers. As for eBay I think some of use get the front bumper and Head Lights from there, Im not sure about the rear though.

Get:
97-99 Eclipse Headlights(Try to get the OEM/Aftermarket OEM)
97-99 Eclipse Front Bumper
97-99 Eclipse Rear Bumper
97-99 Eclipse Side Skirts(Complete 3 Pieces)

Yeah it runs great... just the body is messed up as you can see. Thanks for all your opinions

To take off the rear, all you need to do is unbolt it. Then just rip it off. All the filler will break, then just sand the remainder of the filler off.

Then get some nice bumpers, do the rest of the bodywork, paint it and be good to go.

Tear apart your interior and look for drugs first. Once your car is clean, proceed to tear off the bumper and put an OEM one on.

Actually about a week ago I had a k9 unit searching my car...so i'm thinking it's fine... and the interior cam torn apart

No body kit is the best body kit! Just get a full 2GB set of bumpers and skirts with a 2GB high rise spoiler.

Yeah i am planning on going to certifit on tuesday and picking up 2gb front and rear bumpers!

i say do the body kit but dont mold it in then you cant take the kit off with out hacking up the body.
