PLEASE HELP ME!! vaccum issues

I run a 93 talon n/t on a local dirt track. were supposed to be stock but you know how that goes! I have a 264/264 cam setup and when the tech checked my car out before the race he did 2 things. one, a compression test which I passed. and two, a vaccum test which I failed horribly. at idle your supposed to pull 18 on the vaccum gauge and I was clear down at 14.. I guess that's due to the cams. can anyone tell me if there is a way to get the vaccum atleast up to 17?? I cant idle higher either ### they already caught on to that . and I advanced the timing which helped a little but not much. there has to be something... the car is fast and its a winner so I do not want to have to remove the cams for stock cams. please help!

I suppose stock means you cant run adjustable timing gears then can you? I looked at your profile but not much info. If so you could advance the cams or just the exhaust cam and get more vacuum then put it back before you race. Not a cheater but if they allow it, you could definately do that. Just an idea. When my sons cars timing gears weren't tight the exhaust cam moved to full advance and he noticed the increase in vacuum at idle since that brings the power/torque band down some. Only a thought.

they check the cam gears every race . I suppose ill just need to remove the 264s. some ideas on good stock cam setups would be nice. I heard that a stock intake cam and a turbo exhaust cam is a good setup for the na.

Well darn....I'm not up to speed on the cam situation since I am fairly new to these machines but an old hand at SBC, SBF and Mopars but I am learning.....at the age of 50...... But I was trying. I no some "cheats" but that was the first that came to mind (which is old, )
