Please help a girl out! what I can do to make my car quicker

Definately have a good intake, headers, hiflow cat, catback exhaust, and switch your filters to hiflow or low restriction ones, also do not try to shift your auto tranny like a manual (Force to go threw first, than slip it up into second, than into 3rd) it will actually raise your time, so leave it in drive from the line out, also, just to let you all know this proven fact... say two cars are the exact same, everythings the same except ones auto and one is manual, the automatic will win on the drag strip, it is more consistant, and it can shift faster than any human hand unless your superman.

I'm baaack! I probably shouldn't bring this one back to life, but I didn't want to disappear out of know where. Plus I have to update you guys on whats happened, which absolutlely nothing. I have't been able to get anything mod wise for my car, but I would like to metion that my time went down. I took my car to Cecil County Drag Way a couple weeks back on a really good night and ran a 17.70 with a .025 R/T.
I want to thank you for all of the reponces and suggestions from everyone and I guess apologize for dissapearing for a little while. I didn't have access to the internet for a few months.
Thanks again!!
Niki

hey, i am also superman, since manual also has less drivetrain loss and one more gear!....dumb

Well I just wanted the world to know I am Super Man. And with the extra weight holding the Auto back, I win.

Any REAL race car has 3 pedals. Anyone can tell you that.

Just to set the record straight, I got the car 3 years ago when I first got my dirver's liscence and I didn't know how to drive manual. It was either take out an 8 grand loan for this eclipse, or cruise around the highschool senior parking lot in a 1989 Olds Delta 88. NOw tell me what would sound more enticing?
So now i'm stuck with the car for 2 more years until I can pay off the rest of it. But for the record, I know how to drive manual(I learned at work 2 years ago) and I am in the process of of saving my money so once I pay off the eclipse, I can pay for a new car outright with no bills, (except for that imported motor i'll be taking a loan out for).

And not all REAL race cars have 3 pedals..... take a trip to your local drag stip on a saturday or sunday and watch the pro big boys race. THanks for all of your suggestiions and feedback guys...but I think we can let this topic rest in peace.

im gonna have to make corrections to this too. first, superman wasnt human :p . next, drivetrain loss is about 5% more then a manual. 3rd, it MAY shift faster, but its doesnt engage the gears to the engine as drastically, which is why manuals can chirp tires when shifting and autos cant. if your a remotely decent driver driving a manual against an auto with the same everything, the manual will win 9/10. i sure hope mike doesnt see this OMG

I havent looked but do they make torque convertors for auto eclipses? That is a good way to get some power out of your tranny adn put it where it belongs. Also look into a shift kit, This is from my knowlege of domestics I'm sorry if it has no bearing on our cars but any directions could be helpful eh? A good shift kit replaces seals, and allows you to set shift points so you can get the max out of every gear. B&M is one of the makers, so look around for that. Good Luck :thumb:

yea they make torque converters and i believe they make shift kits too.

Yes they make Torque and Stall converters for autos....if you are willing to spend the money thats the way to go. Sure manuals are more fun to drive but autos have consistency and thats the key when it comes to drag....if you do the right mods to the transmission you level the field between auto and manual. :thumb:

just to add to this thread thats been brought back to life on what you should add

The 60mm TB dont worry about it, the maximum your going to EVER need with a N/A eclipse is 57MM; you can accomplish this by either A: taking a dremel tool to your existing throttle body and doing it yourself or B: bringing it to whomever you would have port/polish your intake manifold to have them match it up and port your TB out to 57mm. There is a point with the throttle body where air velocity slows down and volume increases this is approx. 57mm. all in short unless you are gonna go turbo some time dont even worry about purchasing the throttle body.

you cannot port your stocker to 57mm with just a dremel. you need to replace the butterfly too.

This thread is over a year old, any reason why it was brought back? Perhaps a new thread asking different questions? :nono:
