Play in steering wheel

Hey guys I have a question I've had my 90 gsx for a about 2 years now and ever since I got it there has been play in the steering wheel. I can move the wheel about a half inch back left and right before the wheels actually turn. My tierods are fineinner and outter and I can't figure out what's causing it. Could it jus be play inmyrack from being so old? I no my rack has been leakin fir a while
now. Any help would be much appreciated thanks guys

YES that is more than likley your problem but you might want to check your bushings as well.

could be, time to get a manual rack.
