Plastidipped my car.

You just gotta pick the right times to spray. I did one time at 5 with sun going down and got the faded look like I posted earlier. But when I did my hood recently at like 9 at night and came out fine. Depends how much condensation is in the air when you spray.
I can usually tell because water/dew forms on my wing and roof. Then I know not to spray that night and wait until the day. All you gotta do is respray over it when it's dry.

And I have no idea why that portion wouldn't stick. is it like bubbling when its drying and starts to come off or what?

dude that looks hella sick... :thumb: i wonder how it would turn out if i come would sprayed my interior with that stuff....gunna have to test it first... good shyt tho bro..

A couple people have tried this and they say it works great. It looks good to me too. You can see their results a couple pages back. It should be page 6, posts 173 and 180.;)

I dont know, it seemed to be goopy still after qn hour or two like it never really dried at all, and yes i am gun a respray the parts that faded, i tapped my chair in the garage with my front bumper at about 1 mph and now i have to respray that too!.

here it is on the car.

the reason the whole pic is so gray is because it had just started lightly snowin.

got those tires on just in time. :)

Had a friend who did this to his wheels on his 240, and I gave him so much shit for it, but after seeing some of these, I might have to do it while I save up for a new paint job, it looks alot better than having a multi colored car haha...Good work guys

Did it look wet still after drying for 2 hours? If so, that's what mine did. It just stayed looking wet until the morning then it looked faded. Definitely got some moisture in it.

yea it looked glossy then I touched it and it turned into a goop type substance. i redid it. a lot of my car is so unlevel but it looks ok from far away aha

I tried this on my swirlies and it actually worked.. im probably going to try the plastidip CLEAR.. i think it adds a shine to plastidip, can anyone verify?

I also read that the aerosol spray on clear DOES in fact work with plastidip, i just have to go back and find the honda forum that did it.

i sprayed a bunch of interior pieces for my 2g eclipse, i posted pics(pretty sure) earlier and they came out looking great. The only thing is, you get that rough touch to it but for certain things, it doesnt matter.

As far as actually spraying it, i found spraying around 3-4 light/medium coats then spray atleast another one or two light coats after and it will come out looking great. My hood and fenders both look awsome along with my mirrors and thats exactly what i did. Lol dont mind how dirty my car is and how im missing the side markers, everything is in the shop.

YouTube - Clearcoat on Plasti-Dip!

this was useful for me... it doesn't give it a full shine but it has SOME shine if you use the dupli-color clear :hellyeah:

and this: http://amtwiki.net/amtwiki/index.php/Plastidip

read the how to use plastidip on the bottom, it says you can use the clear plastidip or a vinyl substance

Also, Careful on HOW you remove the plastidip on your car: this may happen.

For those of you who want to know what makes plastidip plastidip then take a look here:
http://www.plastidip.com/docs/~MPD (F-819-820-698) (5-25-07).pdf

In theory (ONLY THEORY!) Based on what i have read online, the clear will leave a satin like look to the black plastidip. it would look like this but just a little bit more opaque:

Sandman, When you say you do a few light coats do you let those dry in between or quickly back to back?

I find if i do light coats letting dry in between that it gives a more rough look and feel. Rather than doing full thick coats and letting dry. Those usually lend me very smooth coats.

I tried it, but it ran horribly, so I tore it off and am doing it again..I'll post pics when I get done

it was the way you sprayed it, must have sprayed the coats too thick or it was too cold out for the plastidip to set.

And here is a quick pic of one of my interior pieces plastidipped.

Instead of powder-coating my rims for $220 I want to try this plastidip on them first. If I didnt like it, or it faded over winter, what's the preferred method for getting this stuff off, and not leaving what was underneath it scuffed or messed up..

From the looks of it my rims don't seem to be painted or anything but they are VERY smooth so im sure theres some type of coat on there making them look glossy.

Also, how does this stuff adhere to very smooth surfaces?

I mean if I dont like it I can always get them powder-coated but Id rather not have this plastidip start coming off on the inner part of my rim and getting thrown around underneath my fender well because I just undercoated and replaced all my suspension components so I dont want little rubber boogers all over the place. That would look nasty.

I'd like to see a full interior done with this. I am thinking about it, just don't have the time. Looks pretty clean.

just peel it off.

Multiple coats is your best friend, to get mine off i had to make an incision peel it up and peel off.
