Hey guys.

So before you think this is a "is my NT worth building up and can it be really fast" thread, it's NOT.

Basically, I'm just starting to think about future plans for the car. I'm beginning to make it a show car, so probably first I'll be focusing on paintjob and interior work, however I always like to think way ahead of time....

Once the exterior/interior work is done (unless I decide to do work under the hood first), I was trying to think what I should do with the car. Keep in mind, it's not a race car...it's show....but I'd like some more power.

I was thinking, to be a bit more "unique", rather than turbo the motor, just get it built (stroked, etc) and keep it nonturbo mopar. But the thought of a turbo kit does also cross my mind....I'm just kinda blank right now and hearing other's people's thoughts usually helps get me going on a decision.

Please don't answer to this saying, "get a turbo DSM". That means you didn't read. I will get my GSX sometime in the future as car #3.

Has anyone ever "built" up a 420a without power-adders and what are the typical stats?

For getting up those really tough trailer ramps?

Sorry, I'm not into show cars at all. There is no need for more power if you're making a show car. It's never going to be used. All fully built show cars that are never driven do is show off how much money the owner has to blow on stuff they don't need. Why not fill a plexiglass case in the hatch with $100 bills? If you want to impress people, since you'll never be actually using the motor to its potential, just install something like a 200 wet shot. Fill the tank with CO2 so the gauge looks full, then you can just make the engine look pretty for the judges.

I never said the Eclipse is or will be never driven, but thanks for the clever remark about getting up trailor ramps anyways.

You're right, I won't be using the motor to its "full potential" which is why I was saying I'm not looking for crazy amounts of power added. I was just thinking that something like a "built" motor rather than the typical turbo kit or CO2 shot would be more unique.

In all honesty, If you just want to add a little more power and make it more fun to drive, a turbo kit is for you. It will be much less expensive then trying to make a powerful NA car and you will get much bang for your buck. And for shows, I know I would be more impressed if there is a nice shiny turbo sitting under the hood of an NA car rather then a header and CAI, but then again I don't dig the show cars too much either, so a turbo would just let me know its got some power, thats why I would like it LOL.

Haha. I hear ya. Only thing I'm thinking is, the judges won't be able to see the internals, despite their being installed. Maybe you could get a custom, tubular manifold and a giant turbo installed. The sort of thing that would shred a stock motor if you got on it. The engine will be a monster, turbocharged beast, but you wouldn't have to worry about high boosting on it with that turbo, since you wouldn't be really getting on it. If you had to drive it on the street a good ways, you could open the WG so it made no boost.

Just a suggestion. I dunno from show cars. In my opinion, this is the hottest DSM on the forum...

Definitely go turbo.

The cost of building the motor = the cost of putting your own turbo kit together.
You will end up with a much prettier engine bay as well as a substantial amount of power compared to how much power you would have with an engine build.

Thanks Brian (and the rest) for that. That could be an idea too....there are a lot of show cars with major under-the-hood work as well. Maybe I will go turbo.....research the topic over time, and gather all I need. Maybe turbo'd and stroked....They may not be able to see the internal mods, but that's why I have a nice display listing all the work done.
