I guess it would be easiest to start with a pic.

I'm looking to put the gm maf between my bov and throttle body for the blow through setup.

As you can see in the first pic, there isn't enough room with both couplings to fit it between there. I could possibly put it on, but then I would have to push the lower part of the pipe out further and I would have to find another way to bolt my fuse box down, not to mention that it might not line up with the next section of pipe.

I realize through searching, that I'm supposed to put the gm maf in a straight section of pipe, and so I wasn't sure if I would be able to get away with buying a 3" coupling elbow and attaching one side to the throttle body, and the other to the gm maf? Would that lead to the maf incorrectly reading the amount of airflow or not?

You could try and fit it in there with a 45 degree coupling. Just have to take off as much as possible up to the BOV while still leaving clamping space.

If I have to buy another coupling then I would probably get an elbow to attach to the throttle body / maf .. but I didn't know if it curving directly afterwards would throw off the air count.

Yes, but 45 degree would be directly before the air is read, instead of directly after.
