pistons and smoke question

i was wondering how do you know if the pistons are mess up and need new ones? also a mechanic told me i need new piston rings. i was wondering what can cause me to blow out blue smoke? i need a new head gasket and i then valve seals and piston rings.

any help would be appreciated

Blue smoke = burning oil.

You can do a compression check to tell if your rings are sealing up properly.

Piston rings, valve seals, and a head gasket are 3 things that can cause you to burn oil.

umm... don't forget the turbo.

Yea, you can't forget about the turbo...post up the results of a compression test, and stick your finger in the turbo (when its off) to check for shaft play and we'll tell you if its the turbo or if your motor requires some internal work.

well, all my oil leak is not leaking no more and turbo seems to be fine. also we took it to one of my dad mechanics who did the test, he said that i am leaking coolant from the head gasket and that my piston rings needs to be changed.

Get details of what test and test results and how he came to those conclusions. Don't be affraid to ask question, it's your car.

he showed me where i was leaking coolant from and it was due to a blown head gasket.
