Piston/Shaft questions.

Hey guys i am new to the DSM thing, but i have always wanted an eclipse and finally bought one. Currently i am tearing the engine down because it has a bad head gasket. My question is what kind of pistons work best for these type of cars? Done some research but can not come up with a solid answer. Also what else is a good thing to replace while i am this deep with the engine? This is actually my first time tearing down an engine and ANY advice would be awsome. Thank you.

All depends on your budget. If you have the motor out do all seals/gaskets, bearings, water pump, timing components and I'm assuming your doing pistons and rings. Freshen it right up so it's one less thing to worry about down the road. The stock pistons will hold quite a bit but depends on what your goals are down the road and again budget. Do it once and don't have to do it again.

For about 98% of the people on this site....stock.

This is actually my first time tearing down an engine and ANY advice would be awsome.

Change the head gasket and replace all of the timing belt components, then drive the car....leave everything else alone.

I would be happy with 350hp I just hear of so many people slapping bolt-ons and not giving any attention to the engine itself. I was just wondering if diffrent pistons can greatly boost up the hp.

different pistons don't really give you more hp they just allow you to handle more power and boost. if your going for 350 your stock pistons will be fine. spend your money elsewhere
