Anybody had more success with one manufacturer or another.
Hastings has been suggested.
Or, should I use Total Seal, or, someone on here just used o/s mits rings.
I need to get a set of new rings to re-ring this fresh build. Car was smoking severly, new seals, twice, turbo rebuilt ( dumb waste of money, only 48k on 14b ) working from the top down to pistons. Pulled pistons and have a ring gap of .050 and .039 for top/2nd rings, just a tad too big I'd say. The guy at the machine shop did all the work(head, bore, ect.) including hanging the pistons on the rods. This was my first complete motor re-assembly by myself and assumed he had gapped the rings too. Nope, lessoned learned.
Anyway, I put a 100 miles on this motor trying to get the smoke problem fixed, no luck, now I know why.
I have .020 mits pistons hanging on Carrillo H-beams, around 15-18 psi, if this makes any difference.

Thanks
A.J.
It still ran pretty good, even with the oil injection.
