Hello guys im building my 7 bolt and have a question about my ring gap.
Block is bored .020 over. I measured the gap on my rings and they are .013
Is this ok? I dont want to file the rings if i dont have to. Thanks in advance

Heat will be your biggest problem. Under boost, those slugs get hot and the rings right along with them. You didn't say what brand of pistons you are running, but here's what Wiseco says about it:

http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Manuals/RingEndGap.pdf

If I remember correctly, we set ours to around .022 on our 6-bolt stroker, built for big boost. We've been burned by too-small a ring gap, and it's not pretty.

Those gaps are way to tight. I go with .019/.021 for sub 600 and for over that .021/.023. Dont forget your second ring as both of you dont mention it.

You can use the stock clearances if you are doing a mild build but for high performance I would go with the specs recommended above.

Look in the FSM so see what it calls for if you're running stock cast pistons.

When i built my motor expecting to get 450-600awhp I gapped my rings to 0.21 so I recommend you to do about the same don't go under .017, also make sure to check your PTW.

Bore X .0055 +.003 = top ring gap

Top ring gap + .003-.008 =second ring gap

This is the factors that most ring manufactures have moved too.

I add the +.003 for a touch of padding incase there is a lean condition, or tune issue.
