The rebuild kit im looking at comes with 8.0:1 compression pistons. But my stock compression, according to vfaq.com, is 8.5:1. This means im losing power right? How much? And, should I just replace them with higher compression pistons? Thanks guys.

Lower comp means you'll be a little more sluggish off boost. Also your head gasket you choose to use and however much your block/head is decked/milled will affect your compression ratio also. Either way, you're probably going to end up happy.

You might be looking at the wrong kit. I know the rebuild kits for the 1g's have 8.0:1 pistons. Where are you looking for your rebuild kit?
