I got bored today while waiting for my wheels to dry, and I grabbed the vinyl pinstriping to experiment. This is the result. I really like it, but thought I'd post it and feel out peer opinion. I also put in the new headlights this weekend.

I like the lights.
I would :barf: on that pinstriping to make it look better. Not my taste

I think the pinstriping looks good, though I do NOT like the wiper arms. They remind me of the cheap plastic ones you can buy and those are disgusting! LOL

Actually I was also debating the wiper arms. I thought it looked weird with all the red being lower on the car so I was trying to put something further up the car.

But I might axe the wiper arms, it does look a bit ricey. The headlight accents are my favorites, though, so they're going to stay.

Some of you will hate that I did this, but I love it now that it's done. White Hood.

If you like it...good for you.if I saw that car driving I would think it had been wrecked and you replaced the hood with a junkyard one but couldn't afford to get it painted...

Well I'm not sure I see the difference between this and the white cars with black hoods... either way it looks like a scrapyard replacement... I know the inverse most people seem to like better though.

However I indeed spent half of the day just deciding whether or not to try it because I thought it might look that way. But see the original paint isn't that great, the hood had heat cracks in the paint and a bunch of oxidation, so maybe it looks better to me like this just for that reason... the white looks so much cleaner and nicer than the old black paint.

But, I'm going to add some artwork to the hood eventually, some minimalist patterning, so it might look like it belongs on the car when that's done. We'll see.

You took the words right out of my mouth...

Okay, first i was gonna say take off the red windshield wiper accents.. and Red/Black combo would be sick..

Now; you got so many different color patterns going on that it looks stupid... No offence..

I've never seen this done before... I always seen the white 2gs with the black hood.. Never the black 2gs with the white hood..

Can you take more pictures outside of the garage?

Yeah I'll get better/outdoor pics, But it's nighttime now so I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I've got red rim accents, so the red kind of fits the theme around the car. ALSO, yes I've decided to axe the wiper blade accents, I wasn't sure if I wanted them and NOBODY likes them, so they're going away. :) Worth a try, though.

I guess I'm just bizarre, as soon as I bolted on the white hood I almost came, I feel like it makes the car look wider and cleaner, despite the sharp color clash. Plus, there's a few all-black eclipses running around town, and I kind of like how the hood makes it stand out some.

Standing out is nice, until you stand out to a local officer with nothing better to do than hassle you LOL.

Its unique, that's for sure. Maybe if it had other white parts/accents then it would fit better. Like if the pin striping was white perhaps. Just thinking out loud.

I understand you like the white hood, but like Sniver said, it would need more white accents. And maybe that way it wouldn't look so multicolored.

Did you ever think about putting red accents on the wheels?

A red and black theme would look really clean. Either way, do what you feel is best. :thumb:

Actually, yes. All four. Next paycheck I'm lowering the car some, but probably the check after that I'm buying 4 new 18" rims, also black/red probably.

The car's filthy tho since there's still snowy slush on many roads here.

The white hood looks horrid. The headlight pinstripe looks alright, I would have gone up the inside edge of the light with it though (along the whole area where the bumper meets the headlight), and you should just cut that grill piece out instead of pinstriping it. Just my .02 though.

it looks like a experiment gone wrong LOL but if you like it then so be it. but on the topic of cars with black hoods-like my car I have a two-tone spray paint so the black hood actually comments my paintjob but your car has no white on it at all. if you want to keep pursue this look ATLEAST have WHITE pinstriping:ohdamn: but I can say I like those rims alotttt with the red pinstriping thats the only thing I would keep. word to the wise "dont over do a good thing."

I finally got some decent outdoor pics, I rinsed the car off. You can see the wheels better this way (and a little of the bodywork I need to get done. $1000 car, it can be expected.) I'm not sure if it changes the outlook on the white hood, but the red wheel stripes I think really helps the front pinstriping to look like it belongs.

I like everything else minus the wiper arms. :)

Heh, as you can see in the latest picture I've ripped off the wiper arm striping. I agreed they were kind of goofy, made the car look a little more plastic.

I feel bad for posting this but you started this thread because you wanted feedback/input from other members. Personally, I don't like it at all. I really don't like any of it, the headlights, pinstriping or hood. I think your car looked a lot better before you added all these things.

I understand the stock hood wasn't visually appealing because of the condition it was in but now your car says, "look at me" and you're going to get that much more attention and criticism because of it. The color scheme just doesn't go and I really think the car now looks cheesy/ricey. :(

don't listen to any of the guys here.....do what you like...its your car....maybe what your doing is a lil over kill and thats something that most honda kids will do but IMO car looks ok id prob get rid of the white hood tho... jz primer the whole car black or white ..... esp with the red accents.... it'll look BadA##

Oh I'm down with the criticism, I did indeed ask for it, regardless of how disappointing it is.

All-black just seems so boring to me. Especially given the other all-black eclipses in town, it just seems so stock and unexciting. Even if I do paint the car all black, which was my original plan, I still would feel an urge to get some kind of artwork on it...

well if you wanted your car to stand out inside of just being black you shoulda just not went the cheap way and just saved money for a paintjob. 2g eclipses look good in anyyyyyy color, even in neon colors. its better to do it right then to turn a eclipse into a honda rice burner.
