picking up a new 1g and want to install a maft setup

i have read and searched the site for info on the maft set ups.i like it but im a little lost.what would i need to install this set up correctly?my plans for the car are simple...
evo3 16g
evo3-02 and mani (PORTED)
2.5 bushur t-back
MAFT set up
upgrade the side mount(maybe front mount if i find one at good price)
550
so with that said,what would be need for the complete MAFT setup?the car is 100% bone stock and has 67k on it.HELL,a good link thatbreaks it down to the stupid would be great too>thanks for the help

All you need is a compatible GM MAF and the Translator box. Basically you either have the sensor on a pressure pipe (you can be cool and vent if you do this) or your intake pipe. Once you get that on there, you plug everything in and tap a few wires!

is there a list or link that will give/tell me what to look for?
i do want to vent but mainly want to run the 550 without having a afc.i dont feel like i could handle the tuning.
so the translator,GM maf,and thats it??(other than a uicp that i can cut on)
if that it im hitting ebay right now!!

Yes you can tune with MAFT without the SAFC, but having an SAFC handy can enable you to fine tune better. The MAFT is a direct plug n' play unit with only one wire to tap to an RPM signal (wire found on CAS). Here's a pic of the MAF sensor mounted on the UICP (refered to as a "blow through" setup):

there ya go. good forum ya might wanna look into. also, if you buy everything, you might wanna think about getting the cable to extend it to be able to put it inside the car (www.dejontool.com sells em). might be a lotta work, compared to just hooking it up in the engine bay. but it's SOOOO much nicer to be able to make adjustements as you're driving down the road instead of having to get out, unscrew the 4 bolts, click a knob, screw the 4 bolts back in, get back in the car and test it out, and if it doesn't work, do it all over again. i have mine mounted in my console and i can just leave the top off and make adjustments all day long if need be. hope this helps. laters!
