I've been into Mustangs all my life so I know nothing about these cars, besides them being bi*** nasty fast, but my girlfriend is a DSM freak, so I guess were picking up a DSM we stumbled upon. It is a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5-speed. The car is kinda rough and does not run, but it's only 800 bucks and is a very rare car around here. Just wondering if this seems to be a wise investment and maybe some things I should look for. Thanks :D

It's a good price but you need to find out what's wrong with it. If it's a blown timing belt you'll have to replace that, and rebuild the head. If it's a seized engine, it'll cost about $1250 for a used JDM, or a do it yourself rebuild. A shop at reasonable prices will charge around $2200 to rebuild it if the block/rods/head are usable.

Check the axles, and the other basics. It'll be a project car, but it's a good price. Oh, pull the intake pipes and check the turbo for shaft play.

ya i'd say check the turbo, take the intake pipe into the inlet off and put ur fingers inside the turbine to feel the bearings, if they wiggle a lot the turbo is gonna go out pretty soon. It's not the worst problem in the world, but a new turbo isn't exactly cheap.

He said the turbo and timing belt were both fine, it's more of an ECU and coil pack issue which I know isn't cheaper either, but isn't really a big deal I guess. He was including the original ECU plus a 400 dollar aftermarket deal (or so he said) so I'm hoping that's all the car needs to live again. Keep in mind this car has been sitting and hasn't been fired in a year so, I guess I'm looking at alot of work :p
