I looking to upgrade my fuel management and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what runs the best with a 97 GSX ...I'm pretty heavily modded, and only running an APEX S-AFC, barely.... just looking for some advice.

Thanks guys

DSMLink, or if you're shooting for huge numbers, an AEM EMS setup would be the way to go. Fair warning, the AEM takes a whole lot of work to get it set up right, but you'll make good power under partial throttle, and be able to control every aspect of how the engine will function.

DSMLink is cheaper, and almost as good. Won't work as well if you're into rallying, as it's more oriented toward drag type operation.

Either one of them will be a HUGE step forward from an SAFC. You'll wonder how you ever got by, once you step up to a real tuning solution. :)

DSM Link is clearly the way to go as its built specificaly for our application, AEM EMS is also very good but ALOT more costly.

DSM Link is my recomendation.:dsm:

I'd also suggest DSMLink. The support on the dsmlink forum is awesome and the creators of it are incredibly helpful with any problem you have. I posted something a couple days ago about a problem I was having and then they found it to be a problem with some of the chips produced, so they fixed the code and are sending me a new chip for free. Don't worry though, it wasn't anything serious, but I'm just telling you this to give you an idea of their support of their product. It's a great program and is very easy to use.

I'm gonna get flamed to hell for this, but you should really look into a megasquirt. Contrary to popular belief, once its built and you put together a harness, its quite plug and play. All of the features of an AEM ( including launch control, boost control, and logging capabilities) for less than the cost of an AFC (if you already own a laptop).

thanks guys for the suggestions I was thinking about the Haltech E8 setup but it's so exspensive. I'm thinking along the lines on a dsmlink....from what you guys are saying thats the road to go. Is the Dsmlink pretty easy to setup for being a novice to tuning? also wondering if good for both street tune and track?

Megasquirt has it's place, but it doesn't come close to having the features of AEM.

upon reviewing the aem feature set, i'll retract part of that previous statement. Damn them getting 16 outputs and 7 inputs! MS/2 seems as if it'll give it a run for its money though, and you cant beat the price/feature value.

I agree it's a great price and you get a lot of great features, I'm looking into using it on my Toyota pickup.

So dsmlink it is! The reason I haven't upgraded the ecu was becuase I had other fish to fry...etc. But I have it all straighten out now I believe. I was also wondering if there is anyone in the detroit area with some exprience setting the dsmlink up and tuning?.

Not sure if it's too late, but have you looked into the Ecu+. I found it was a better route for me because i don't have an eprom ecu. If you're interested, Mach V sells them and I think they're still on sale until the end of the month.

+1 DSM Link, you will need a 95 Eprom ECU to use it in a 97. Get a wideband while you're at it too. You will have to specify injector size and a few other things so after you install it, the car "should" start right up and be drivable, the wideband will used to fine tune your fuel adjustments.

95 ecu? won't run on the stock 97 ecu? hmmm how much for the 95 ecu?

Yeah thats the issue with using a link for a 2G, you will need the eprom ECU which is most 95 turbo ECU's, they are going for $200 or so, www.DSMlink.com will give you more info. You can even download a copy of the software to your desktop to check it out.

I had a toss up for ECU+ and DSMLink.

DSMLink won simply because it seems more supported. But with my power goals of really no more than 300 whp either should have done a great job of it. Though ECU+ would have saved me alot more money.
