So I got a 14b from my friend for $100 (not bad) it ran fine on the GSX it just came off of. It has just a little bit of side to side play but no in and out play, also it is cracked at the wastegate flapper. My friend said typically they are cracked there so I figured it's cool. Would it cause boost spikes?

Anyways I just picked it up yesterday, the SBR install kit is coming in next Wed as well as a new primary o2 sensor from Denso. I just had the urge to clean it up and paint it.

Last pic is what it looked like right after it was taken out of the 1G, took it with my phone so it's bad quality.

cleaned up nice. most 14bs have cracked housings. if it is extremely cracked around the flapper you will have increased lag with it. td05 housings are cheap to come by on ebay

Well at first I just planned on polishing the compressor housing bu then I couldn't get the wire wheel to hit every spot so I just decided to paint it. I used Duplicolor Engine Enamel Aluminum (1200 degree) for the compressor...and all I had was 500 degree low gloss (same brand) for the exhaust side (I know it won't last but I didn't feel like buying any).

Uum the exhaust side I just got a wire brush and wiped them down. The compressor if I were to do it again I would just get the fat chunks of oil off and get the surface all free of peaks and valleys. I wasted more than an hour using the wire wheel on it.

Finished result it really nice, I might just go ahead and buy some 1200 degree paint and redo the exhaust side.

Lol I even painted the bolts for the actuator...just brushed them off and used the aluminum.

:tease: Holly shit, I thought the compressor housing was polished! I didnt know it was painted! Do you think it would last over time?

Wow dude that looks NICE! I bet you could throw that on ebay and get ALOT more for it because it looks brand new. All those guys out there doing custom turbo kits would crawl all over it. Would be nice to get 200$ for it and buy a used 16g in its place :sneaky:

The paint on the compressor housing can hold up to 1200 degrees, so that should be fine. The turbine housing on the other hand probably will flake because all I had laying around was the 500 degree low gloss. Eh oh well.
