Pick The Right Intercooler

Hey guys, I have a 95 Gst and want keep my stock bumper and if i can my fog lights. I have look everywhere read everything. And now i have bought it down to 4 intercoolers. If anyone has anyof this can you please give me some info or just a pick of one on a 2ga.

I believe the PR kit lets you keep your fogs on. Read the thread i started about their kit.

Well get a 2Gb bumper conversion if you wish, either way the PR kit will let you retain your fogs as it has good clearance around them.

The bov it comes with is crap, it's a knockoff of a type s, but assuming you are on your stock plastic bov, it is an upgrade for the meantime.

i have a turboxs but i think it leaks cause i my boost goes up to 15 then down to 9

Could be a boost leak, but also remember that the stock t25 doesn't hold boost quite good. Depending on the condition of your turbo, in most cases these turbos hold solid around 9-11 psi after spiking whatever it is the boost level you set it to.

does the intercooler bolt right up to the turbo? did u get one of the kits?

I own the ssac one and it was extremely cheap and the quality is awesome. Unfortunatly you dont keep the stock fogs. Go to my profile and look at the pics I have the intercooler assembled and not installed if you want to get a look on what you are getting. With the 50 trim the ait are about 5 degrees above ambient. Pretty good for 295 if you ask me.

Not yet, i'm waiting for my tax return check to come in the mail. It bolts right up, but if you have a t25 i suggest you re-use your stock s-pipe, get a piece of pipe to hold the new looped s-pipe in place and loop it, as to making it look like a u-pipe now.

dam u cant keep u fog with a 2gb? Does it ever get hot? How much boost are u running?

No but it does look sharp. No it gets quite warm on the hot side but on the cold side its cool to the touch. Right now I am up to about 20 lbs give or take a pound. It screams and no knock. Cant complain. My fogs didnt work anyways so I wasnt giving up that much.

how much did u have to cut? do u know if behind the bumper cover is there a different with the 2ga and 2gb

Yes, just go to an auto zone, get at least a 2 or 3" pece of steel pipe that will fit in the stock s-pipe diameter whih i believe is a 2" pipe, and tighten them up real good. You don't have to do this mod but it is a cheaper alternative to having to re-qeld your turbo elbow the other way.

I know it's not on your list but I would definetally look into an ETS Front mount.

I purchased one last fall and installed it. The installation went perfect. It was a breeze. I didn't have to cut a damn thing!

The quality out of the ETS front mounts is amazing. I have yet to hear one complaint about it.

Keep on the lookout for their "blemish" kits also, they sell them for cheaper and they hardly have any defects in them.

This kit also retains the stock foglights as well!!!!

Well from what you could probably see from my pics I cut alot out of my bumper. I also cut my bumper support and well it all works pretty good. Now the difference between the a and b I have no idea. Still think that this is the best bang for the buck when it comes to any fmic. I also purchased a wastegate from them and it works great too.

Haha then put on a 2gb cnversion... jk. the set up works great though. Much smoother spool and the car defintley pulls harder. I put the included greddy knock off on with the kit. Wouldnt suggest it though because it leaks a lot. I have the hks ssq too from the old piping I had . I will be putting it on the new piping soon.

FYI: Your t25 can boost 12 pounds easy, even 15 until 4th (for me in automatic, so if your manual 5th) gear and round 4500 to 5000 rpms, then it starts to drop to about 12/13. This is what i have found personally.

I, too, have an end goal of 400awhp and I plan on running an ETS set-up, for the most part. I'll, most likely, buy the core(which is the most important part) that I need to fit my application and then piece together my own 2.5" piping. The end results will be a 2gb AWD Eclipse that retains both the front crash beam/core support and the fog lights. There won't be any trimming involved, either. At the most, a few holes to drill here and there. I expect to pay around $400-500 on the setup as a whole. I am also on a budget.

To each his own, though. If you'd like to try using a "cheaper" kit, then more power to you. If I was forced to recommend a kit to you, it would be VR Speed Factory's. They just had a group buy, a few months back, that exploded into something HUGE and they ended running their first kits out of stock. They have a second, and newly revised kit, in the works, that will be available sometime in mid-March or early-April, and will make the installation process a breeze. Their customer service is great, as well. From my experience, Tiago is very honest, helpful, and informative.

Just keep in mind that, a lot of times, you get what you pay for. And with that said, it would be worth it for you to consider spending the extra few bucks on the intercooler setup to ensure that you'll reach your goal. Whether you want to admit it or not, 400whp is quite a bit. It's a very respectable number. IMO, if you're going to have that respectable amount of power, you should have respectable parts and knowledge to back it up.

All I'm saying is don't sell yourself short on certain, important, parts on your car. Heat soak and pressure drop could end up plaguing you, if you do, and then you'll end up having to spend the extra money to get the good stuff, anyway.
