Is this joke?

sadly... no. I hate this bumper, and the fact that he doesn't even have a fmic to fit the hole. The mouth on this thing is so huge that is plainly just looks effin retarded. Id take almost any aftermarket bumper over this. Hell I would rather construct a way to put a Honduh bumper on my car, and I absolutely hate Honduh with a passion. If he wanted to do it right, he should have just used a 2gb bumper.

If he were to get a larger fmic he would be wrapping the IC pipes around the front cross member in front of the tires. And I don't see a gap at the top. Your comment = fail...

To each their own. I kinda like it at some angles and some I don't

The retarded width hole is the factory width of a 2gb Talon front bumper. It has just been extended up. What I think is retarded about the front end was the stupid stencil Dejon Tool put on his FMIC's waaaaaay back in the day. The lettering has been gone since just a couple days after taking those pics(which have to be well over 5 years old). There is no fitting a larger FMIC without the pipes coming out the sides of the bumper. That little FMIC you mock is 30" wide without end tanks. Can't really fit much bigger unless you go with a thicker FMIC.

Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinions and I don't care either way. Just be glad you guys are in the elite club of 3 that don't like it. It is a pretty slick piece and you could atleast give me credit FOR doing it right. Unlike buying a shitty urethane or fiberglass shit box aftermarket bumper.ROFL

What do you guys do about a bumper reinforcement on your cars when you cut them out to make these big mouth front ends? Without a reinforcement someone backing into you at 5 mph and this things totaled. I was looking at my 2g eclipse and just to open the top up a little I would have to plasma cut the crap out of the reinforcement and its not nearly as big as this one.

I just caught up with this post. I cut the majority of the factory fiberglass bumper to accommodate the FMIC. The fiberglass bumper was then fixed to the bumper cover and molded in with body filler. In order to remove the bumper cover all the factory bolts must be removed. Also the 4 bolts holding the fiberglass bumper in the frame must be removed and it all comes off as one assembly. We molded the bumper into the bumper cover so it would not sag in the middle and to give it support at speed.

I can't say what most of the other people are doing but a lot of my friends simple remove the bumper and hack the bumper cover to fit the FMIC.

You are right there is no gap at the top (though I am not sure if that is what the other poster was referring to). And yes any wider than what the core is would result in cutting out much of the driver side of the bumper where the small opening is.

I guess I should also comment on why I did this. The original idea was to hack the bumper to maximize airflow to the IC. I wanted the whole thing exposed because why buy a huge IC if you are going to cover up 30%+ with a 2gb bumper. After talking with a body guy I used to work with, he said he could mold the bumper opening to look stock after being cut. I said great lets do it. Then I realized my factory headlights were fogging and looking not too good. So we talked about swapping in 2gb eclipse headlights but I didn't want the gap between the headlights and the Talon bumper. So we came up with a solution to mold in part of a factory 2gb Eclipse bumper. What you are looking at is half 2gb Talon bumper and half 2gb Eclipse bumper. The badge is clearly shaved along with the bumper lights. There is close to 100 hours of labor in the bumper not to mention when I did this 2gb Talon bumpers were super rare and I dropped $500 on one just to cut in half LOL. IMO it does not get much more legit or done right than what Rodney, AJ and I came up with.

Talon was put away for a few years while I was busy with many other things, but it's back now! And 4 years later I'm actually doing this to my bumper...

Last time I posted on these forums was many moons ago, and there used to be a 700x700 pixel picture limit. I looked in the rules and I don't see that anywhere now, and I assume it must be old news since most of us aren't using a 17" monitor any more, but if that rule is still in effect and I missed it somehow let me know and I will resize.

Not painted yet, bit more work to do, but I think it'll look pretty good when it's done.
