thats so lame... just like insurance comapanies, and some towns won't allow dobermans. I've had 5 of them, they are the biggest sweethearts ever.... grr it makes me so mad. Because of some stupid assnuggets that train them to be vicious makes the whole breed look bad. more people get hurt from ankle bitters than dobermans, pits, and rots combined... just because they look mean must make them mean huh?
sorry for the rant.

Just thought we all being car people would be interested to see this. You never know, the American people could make a difference because every signature helps. Check out the video on the bottom of the page too.

Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.
A Real Change Campaign to Lower Your Gas Prices

Sean Hannity - PetitionsAmerican Solutions - Petitions

As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.

FOXNews.com - Newt Gingrich Calls on Congress to Allow More Oil Drilling in the U.S.

Might as well be "Petitionsonline.com". Inaccurate, incomplete data, the site is in Beta, etc.

Email your congress-person.

A real solution is alternative energy.

You wont see anything for 10 years is they started a new oil project today.
So a savings of 50 cents in tens years, big whoop.

Done.. I would REALLY like to see them find a way to get the other 2/3's of teh oil out of all the existing holes we've drilled in the world already... Our current technology only allows us to use about 1/3rd of a well's total output before we cap it and move on. I know an arab guy who has fmaily in the oil business back in Dubai (he's over here starting car lots and everythign else from pizza shops to convenient stores from cali to missouri) He's got a lot of loot, just hates the oil biz, but that's what made his family rich and he was telling me about how much is actually wasted in the fields and left behind..

lets pettition for better technology :LOL

If they could just find a way to go back and completely empty the capped off wells we'd be set for another 100 years EASILY and wouldn't have to tap our leftover resources.

well if it wasnt for what my grandfather likes to call "eviromentalist wackos!" we could drill in alaska! That is where we would benifit most from drilling...and I dont think the polar bears would mind that much...they would just wander into the more snow covered abyss thats up there.

I liked it when I had to pay $1.36 for gas before Bush was president. If he didn't #### up and people in the US didn't love their V8s and V12s, maybe we wouldn't need to lift the ban on offshore drilling...

The problem is we destroy their habitat when we drill in their environments. Let's see how you like it if we uproot your house to drill for some oil.

With you Crimson, and it more than polar bears, carribou aswell. And like stated before it would take at least 10years for the oil to show up on the market if they aprove drilling today

Might want to do something to reign in speculation while you're at it, that would reduce the price fairly quickly from what I've heard, but then again I'm sure there are other economic impacts from reduced speculation that I'm not aware of. Also, the thread title needs at least 7 more exclamation points, it just isn't emphatic enough, maybe some caps lock would fix that too.

You won't see OIL on the market for 10 years, maybe. But you will see PRICE EFFECTS right away. Why is oil so expensive right now? One reason is because of supply FEARS. It didn't become magically more expensive to produce or deliver a barrel of oil in the last few months.
If you want to bring down the price of a barrel of oil now, you have to calm those fears. Opening up drilling offshore or in Alaska or wherever will go a long way to doing that, without even producing a single drop of oil in the short term.

+1 i agree

A few interesting facts for anyone unclear about the issue. Arctic Refuge drilling controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote from the EIA:"With respect to the world oil price impact, projected ANWR oil production constitutes between 0.4 and 1.2 percent of total world oil consumption in 2030, based on the low and high resource cases, respectively.17 Consequently, ANWR oil production is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices. Relative to the AEO2008 reference case, ANWR oil production is projected to have its largest oil price reduction impacts as follows: a reduction in low-sulfur, light (LSL) crude oil18 prices of $0.41 per barrel (2006 dollars) in 2026 in the low oil resource case, $0.75 per barrel in 2025 in the mean oil resource case, and $1.44 per barrel in 2027 in the high oil resource case. Assuming that world oil markets continue to work as they do today, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) could neutralize any potential price impact of ANWR oil production by reducing its oil exports by an equal amount"

I am not going to get into this issue bc, to each his own, but I would just like to know the people that are for drilling would you allow drilling in the Grand Canyon or any other pristine area that is close to where you live or like to visit. Just because you never go there or dont care about that area bc its so remote doesn't mean you should value it as less important

I vote for solar powered cars. :p The sun is free and it keeps getting hotter every year!

We buy oil on the world market just like everyone else, right? So the answer to your question is simple. It increases world supply, and decreases supply fears. If world supply fears are what is hurting us, then alleviating world supply fears will help us.
